Charlie has become the MVP of this season.  It’s Always Sunny in Philadelphia Season 18 Episode 10, “The Guys Have a Sleepover,” confirms this by showcasing his wisdom. In a rare heartwarming moment, Charlie offers Dennis some good advice.

It’s some rare sentimentality that is not seen often by the gang but always appreciated. Despite all the ejaculation related shenanigans, the Sunny men show some true brotherhood.

The episode even ends with another semi-heartwarming moment between Dennis and Charlie, as they stay up all night. This allows them to draw dicks on everyone else.

Dick drawings are now a gesture of love.

Dennis has never been more endearing than he is on “The Guys Have a Sleepover.” It’s a bit jarring. However, we enjoy seeing this other side of him.

It cannot always be serial killer accusations.

These Charlie and Dennis moments also feel full circle because in It’s Always Sunny in Philadelphia Season 18 Episode 5, “The Gang Goes to the Ren Faire,” Charlie is so horrified by Dennis’s actions that he’s not sure if they can continue their friendship.

Then, in “The Guys Have a Sleepover,” they basically solidify themselves as partners in crime, friends for life. It restores the whimsy to adulthood.

These grown men let go of some of their gross behavior (not Frank) and just enjoy the lightheartedness of having an adult sleepover. It almost makes you want to bring those simple days back.

The heartwarming moment elevates this Sunny episode because overall, it’s some of the same gags, including Frank’s perverted nature. The cum jokes and underwear stealing almost feel too tired here.

However, the cold opening is one of the funniest of the season. Dee’s fear is mocked only to highlight that women have a lot to fear. It’s another timely moment from the It’s Always Sunny in Philadelphia writers.

We almost wish that was more of the focus of this episode: Things becoming more and more dangerous in Dee’s apartment. However, you can still make the case that that is what happens in “The Guys Have a Sleepover,” because Frank’s actions are treated as lighthearted, but they are very predatory.

Dee, Artemis, and the Waitress aren’t safe in Dee’s apartment. They’re just used to this perv.

However, this isn’t an episode about the unsafe world women live in, at least not intentionally. It’s about the power and beauty of enjoying something silly like a sleepover as an adult.

That works just as well because It’s Always Sunny in Philadelphia balances out the silliness with some heart. Though this is just an all-right episode of the FXX show, the series’ best follow a similar pattern.

“The Guys Have a Sleepover” has tones of It’s Always Sunny in Philadelphia Season 6 Episode 13, “A Very Sunny Christmas.”

We need more episodes of the gang just being unintentionally heartwarming. It makes sense why the show ends with this one as the season finale. As a concept, It’s Always Sunny in Philadelphia is quite whimsical.

It started with three friends tired of not getting any work, and then they created their own show. Now 18 seasons later, they still get to play together while creating one of the best series of all time.

It’s a strong case for just being hopeful and whimsical. You never know what magic will happen because of it.
