‘Stanley Tucci: Searching for Italy’ Canceled by CNN
Just when you thought this week’s TV news cycle couldn’t get any bleaker, it comes for Stanley Tucci.
After two successful seasons, Stanley Tucci: Searching for Italy has been canceled by CNN. The decision was part of a plan launched in October to dial back original programming produced outside the news organization.
Tucci’s cuisine-centric series, which acted as a companion project to his book Taste: My Life Through Food, follows the actor as he explores his family’s Italian heritage.

“Unfortunately, CNN has canceled all of their original programming, so hopefully we’ll end up on another streamer, network, we don’t know,” Tucci told Jimmy Fallon during an interview on The Tonight Show. “But yes, I have plans to do Season 3 and more.”
The more is a spin-off docu-series titled Searching For Mexico, with Eva Longoria taking over hosting duties.
Tucci is an executive producer on the project, which is set to debut on CNN in 2023.
“Searching for Italy is one of the most successful projects produced by CNN Original Series, garnering two consecutive Primetime Emmy Awards for Outstanding Hosted Nonfiction Program,” CNN said in a statement. “We want to thank Stanley Tucci for his dream partnership. We look forward to collaborating on the upcoming Eva Longoria: Searching for Mexico.”

CNN was also the home of Parts Unknown for twelve seasons, a culinary docu-series that followed Anthony Bourdain as he traveled to lesser-known areas of the world to explore the hidden depths of culture and food.
Searching for Italy invokes a similar grace and sincerity, with a likable host willing to check his celebrity at the door to immerse viewers in a foreign experience. Tucci, backed by stunning cinematography, carefully peels back layers of history, grief, and love through the vibrant kitchen scenes of Italy.
Until Tucci finds a new home for his award-winning documentary series, we will continue to search for shows this wholesome.
