Law & Order: Organized Crime Season 3 Episode 7 Review: All That Glitters
For the first time ever, Law & Order: Organized Crime Season 3 Episode 7, “All That Glitters” manages to cause a complete character assassination on Elliot Stabler. What could have been a great episode is overshadowed by an element that doesn’t make sense — Tia.
The case itself is a great one because we not only get to see Jamie Whelan in action more but Jet as well — which is extremely rare. This time the undercover operation is truly a full team effort.
If only it wasn’t on the back burner to everything else going on during this episode.
Elliot Stabler Who?

The biggest upset from this episode is the introduction of Tia, who Stabler worked with during his time in Rome. You’d think seeing a bit more of that decade of his life would be great, but instead we get something that contradicts everything we know about this iconic character.
Elliot Stabler may have had marriage issues with Kathy during his time on Law & Order: SVU. However, he would never imagine cheating on her so blatantly — emotional cheating, yeah that happened, but never actual cheating.
Maybe I am understanding the whole situation incorrectly and maybe it’s supposed to seem like Tia just has this massive thing for Stabler. However, each time I would start to think that Stabler would say something that heavily implied they did more than just work together.

Even if that is a misinterpretation, the current flirting is not. Stabler is not at a place in his life where he is going to be considering a relationship with someone — especially not someone who in one breath talked about how sorry she was about Kathy and in the next tells him he’s special.
Not only that, Stabler has never been a blatant flirting kind of guy. We always knew he loved Kathy by the way he spoke to her and looked at her.
Flirting was never in the equation.
It just seems like such a disservice to him for Law & Order: Organized Crime to have Tia come along and make it feel like we don’t even know Stabler at all — even though we have spent decades with him. Don’t even get me started on that “pining” at the end of the episode with a door between them.
The Silas Family Still Kicks

One of the smaller aspects of the episode, but one that packs a huge punch is the resurfacing of Pearl. She calls up Stabler regarding information she has on her husband.
This isn’t so shocking considering how flimsy she seemed previously with regard to supporting and remaining loyal to her dangerous husband. What is shocking is how she acts toward Teddy toward the end of the episode.
This woman is playing with fire and she is going to get burned if she isn’t careful — or maybe that is her goal. Not for the first time, I wonder if she is playing both sides of the fence.
To be honest, this is some of the most compelling storytelling we’ve seen from Law & Order: Organized Crime. Sure the Wheatley stuff was gold, but this woman is a true enigma — we never know if she is coming or going.
Now that she is openly defying her husband things will surely hit the fan quickly. I’m ready with my popcorn for a front-row seat to that chaos.

To be honest the writers needs to stop listening to the other fans by not getting Elliot Stabler and Olivia Benson from getting romantically by sending other people to romance them instead of each other. We all know that Elliot Stabler loves Olivia Benson and that’s why he didn’t opened the door and let Tia or whatever her name maybe standing outside his door he doesn’t feel that exact same way that she does for him. Writers Elliot Stabler and Olivia Benson love each other and they need to be together romantically not Elliot Stabler and other women or Olivia Benson and Rafa Barba or any other man Stabler is the one for Benson and visa versa. Why are the writers trying to keep Elliot Stabler and Olivia Benson apart from each other by sending in other people to romance them instead of each other. Can’t they see Elliot and Olivia love each other and needs to be together romantically.
I am one episode away from tuning out svu and oc. Like many others I am sick of the lack of connection between Elliot and Olivia. I feel like I got suckered into caring. I don’t much anymore.
As a long-time fan of SVU, and Meloni, and Mariska… all this has been painful tbh. The shows are well-written, well-acted, they feel fresh and funny but the Elliot and Olivia love story, or friendship has disappeared. Nothing makes sense… Did the actors change their mind? Do the producers think the ratings will be terrible if EO are together? Are we supposed to give up? Were we baited for 2 years? It’s sad… I just hope Stabler character comes back soon, I miss him. 😉
I don’t know who Chris Meloni was playing, but it wasn’t Eliot Stabler. Really poor, inconsistent writing. No-he and Kathy didn’t have this wonderful marriage as we saw over and over. He did love her and tried, but his heart belonged to Olivia. And what’s this about Eli in college? Last season he was 15. Lazy writing and no continuity. Not to mention bringing in an Olivia clone from his time in Italy. I do like Chris Meloni and was excited to see Stabler’s return, but am pretty much done with the show.
I find this commentary so wrong-headed it makes me laugh.
