Only Murders in the Building Season 2 Episode 4: Top Quotes from ‘Here’s Looking at You…’
Only Murders in the Building Season 2 Episode 4, “Here’s Looking at You…,” is an emotional hour that surprises us all with those bombshells in the final moments of the episode.
This is a very Charles-centric episode. Actually, it’s been a pretty Charles-centric season so far. Between his reunions with Lucy and Jan, as well as his emotional pep talk with Nina, Steve Martin really gets a chance to shine during the episode.

We also get some nice moments between Oliver and his son and a surprisingly emotional one between Teddy and Theo.
Oh, and don’t forget a new piece of evidence has made its way into Charles’ home — the murder weapon, which is one of Oliver’s knives. The killer really planned ahead when it came to framing our trio, which makes me think the killer is an Arconia resident with something against all four of them.
Let’s use some quotes from the hour to guide our discussion, shall we?
1. Lucy stops by for a visit
Charles: She used the word “Manhattie,” and you just used “hot goss.” It’s like I’m watching Squid Games without subtitles.
We finally get to meet Lucy, and she’s delightful.
Lucy fits right into the mix as she reconnects with Charles and gets to know Oliver and Mabel. She doesn’t come across as annoying, and she’s actually quite helpful with the investigation, hypothetically, of course.

The reveal of all the secret passageways behind the walls is a big development, and it’s not really something that our trio could’ve found on their own without Lucy’s help.
It makes sense that Lucy would have stumbled onto these passageways, growing up in the building, and I’m a little surprised Mabel didn’t know about them.
Also, like Mabel, I felt really old listening to Lucy.
2. Teddy’s Return
Oliver: Well if Teddy’s plotting to screw me, I at least want to know what to wear.
Teddy’s back! Despite his claims of working on himself, he clearly is still holding on to some anger issues.
Teddy and Theo’s presence is a good reminder that Oliver, Charles, and Mabel aren’t solving cases in a vacuum. There are lingering effects from the investigation into Tim’s murder.

The residents of the Arconia may have warmed up to them again, but there are still some people that hate Oliver, Charles, and Mabel’s guts, like Teddy and Theo.
It’s unclear if Teddy and Theo will continue to pop up throughout the season, or if this is their only appearance. I don’t necessarily think we need to see more of them. However, it is possible that Teddy will make good on his threat to Oliver, which could add a bit more suspense to the show.
3. Eliminating a suspect
Nina: I wish Bunny were here. She was so excited to see this kid. Look at me! You find her murderer and give me five minutes in the room with that motherfucker once you do.
As I said in my review of Only Murders in the Building Season 2 Episode 3, “The Last Day of Bunny Folger,” Nina was too obvious to actually turn out to be Bunny’s killer. So, it’s a relief that Only Murders in the Building Season 2 Episode 4 rules her out.
The reveal that Nina and Bunny were friends is sweet and a much better choice than having Nina be the murderer. Through Nina, we learn that there was a different side to Bunny than we’ve seen previously. She was a mentor and friend to Nina, despite their difference in views on the Arconia.

Also, Charles steps up and calms down Nina after her water breaks. He’s not bad at this whole supportive, caring guy thing. His chat with her also is a great way for us to learn a bit more about Nina, and it leads to some great humor.
4. An ominous warning
Lucy: There is some real shit going on in this building, Charles, and you need to get tougher. You need to find them before they find you.
Only Murders in the Building Season 2 Episode 4 ends with some case-relevant reveals.
The majority of the hour is a sweet, emotional one that highlights Charles and Lucy’s relationship. We learn about the tunnels, which is a new piece of the puzzle, but doesn’t move the case forward all that much.
It wouldn’t have been a bad thing if that is all that happened during the episode, but it’s a relief that the show uses those final moments to give us some new information. Best of all, Lucy being there that night is something only we know.

It’s always exciting when you know a bit more than the characters do. It gives you a leg up in the investigation, and it could lead to some thrilling suspense as our trio gets closer to uncovering something — or landing themselves in danger — without necessarily realizing they are doing it.
5. Seeking help from a pro
Charles: Well, unknown caller, I need your help with something.
Jan: Hello Charles, I’ve missed you.
After Lucy mentions her earlier in the episode, we all should’ve seen it coming that Jan would be popping back up soon.
Jan calling Charles isn’t surprising, but Charles going to her is unexpected. It’s unclear what he hopes to gain from talking to her. Jan probably doesn’t know anything about who killed Bunny, but perhaps she picked up a thing or two from sneaking around the Arconia last season.
Any theories on what Charles and Jan will discuss?
