15 Truly Unforgettable TV Weddings
There’s nothing more classic than a good old TV wedding. Most shows have them.
Many shows have happy weddings, some shows have disturbing weddings, and often shows have chaotic weddings. They bring the cast together and always remain memorable scenes in a series.
We’ve compiled a list of the best or the most memorable (looking at you, Game of Thrones) TV weddings, from sitcoms to romances and dramas.
Here are 15 Truly Unforgettable TV Weddings:
1. Matthew and Mary: Downton Abbey

For the first three seasons of the hit British period drama, Matthew and Mary’s enemies to lovers storyline plays a central role in the show. Viewers couldn’t help but cheer when Matthew finally proposed outside in the snow at the end of Downton Abbey Season 2 (Season 2 Episode 9).
Their wedding brought together everyone in the village harmoniously after the rough years of World War 1 and the Spanish Flu. Unfortunately, Matthew and Mary’s love story becomes a tragedy at the end of season 3, which leaves fans devastated.
2. Cam and Mitchell: Modern Family

Throughout the 11 seasons of Modern Family, Mitchell and Cam were one of TV’s most loveable couples. The series starts with them adopting a baby girl, Lily, and continues through their wedding in season 5 and beyond.
The show does a great job corresponding plotlines with current events in America, such as the legalization of same-sex marriage and the controversies it created. Mitchell and Cam deal with some scrutiny yet have a beautiful and happy ceremony with their large and loving modern family in Modern Family Season 5 Episode 24.
3. Jim and Pam: The Office

We can’t not include Jim and Pam’s wedding on The Office on a list of most memorable TV weddings. There’s the trip to Niagara, a historically popular wedding destination in the North East. Then there’s the Chris Brown dance, iconic and appropriate at the same time.
The two co-workers look elated and defeated once members of the wedding party start to dance down the church aisle. Indeed a memorable and infamous wedding!
4. Jamie and Claire: Outlander

On Outlander Season 1 Episode 7, Claire Beauchamp marries Jamie Fraser in a forced ceremony to protect Claire from violent redcoat generals in the Scottish highlands. The ceremony becomes a blur for Claire, who is already married to another man in future times before she time travels back to the 18th century.
The marriage episode explores the budding love between the couple, who spend their uncomfortable night sharing stories and learning about each other’s lives. By the end of the episode, romance is alive and well for the infamous TV couple.
5. Monica and Chandler: Friends

Of all the weddings in Friends, Monica and Chandler’s wedding stands out on Friends Season 7 Episodes 23 and 24. The beloved couple’s wedding features clumsy mistakes by Joey, the officiant, and a very eager Chandler who kisses his bride before the exchange of “I do.”
Joey quickly replaces the actual officiant dressed as an army officer. It’s greatly timed comedy during a beautiful ceremony from a classic episode from a classic show.
6. Jake and Amy: Brooklyn Nine-Nine

In the history of iconic sitcom weddings, Jake Peralta and Amy Santiago’s nuptials remain memorable as a catalytic event surrounded by uncertainty that ends in happy bliss.
Brooklyn Nine-Nine Season 5 Episode 22 starts with a bomb threat of all things pre-wedding and ends with a humorous reference back to that bomb threat from Amy during her vows. The two are married in front of the precinct in a ceremony officiated by Holt.
7. Demure Tully and Roslin Frey (Red Wedding): Game of Thrones

There is nothing happy about the wedding between Demure Tully and Roslin Frey in Game of Thrones Season 3 Episode 9.
However, the marriage is quite memorable. In fact, what becomes known as the Red Wedding is one of the most famous scenes from the series due to its shock value. It is doomed from the start since the bride and groom don’t even know each other, but the wedding turns towards disaster with a violent massacre at the reception banquet.
8. Castle and Beckett: Castle

The detective crime dramedy followed best-selling author Richard Castle working with a team of detectives led by Kate Beckett. Their cheeky flirting and slow-burn romance added a great touch of humor to the show’s eight seasons.
They finally marry on Castle Season 7 Episode 6, after a strange and trippy alternative universe sequence about Castle’s life if he never met Beckett. The episode finally ends with their wedding, a small intimate ceremony with Castle and Beckett’s closest family members.
9. Callie and Arizona: Grey’s Anatomy

Like most events on Grey’s Anatomy, Callie and Arizona’s wedding in Grey’s Anatomy Season 7 Episode 20 is full of drama. Callie gives birth to the couple’s baby after an accident, and the two hastily plan their nuptials.
Callie’s parents don’t accept that she’s marrying another girl, yet her father turns up last minute for their father/daughter dance at the reception. The show loves a chaotic wedding, yet this one has a happy ending.
10. Lily and Marshall: How I Met Your Mother

On How I Met Your Mother Season 2 Episode 21, Lily and Marshall’s wedding remains memorable for the near-disaster events leading up to the ceremony. The episode is a comedy of errors; the harpist goes into labor, the flowers are late, and Marshall shaves off a patch of his hair.
The chaos resolves itself thanks to Barney, who eventually marries the couple in a small park ceremony away from the drama and family. The averted disaster makes for excellent comedy and an even happier ending.
11. Angel and Papi: Pose

Angel suffers a lot throughout the course of Pose, but she gets her happy ending when she marries Papi towards the end of season 3. The fan-favorite couple finally wed in a beautiful ceremony after a four-year-long engagement.
Angel’s recovering from drug addiction, so symbolically Lulu gives her her sober chip as Angel’s “something borrowed”, signifying their sober journeys together. Fans waited awhile for this wedding, and they were not disappointed. Pose delivers a harmonious and touching wedding towards the end of the groundbreaking series.
12. Zack and Kelly: Saved by the Bell
Zack and Kelly marry in a two-hour-long TV movie special called Saved by the Bell: Wedding in Las Vegas, which marks the end of the series Saved by the Bell: The College Years.
In classic form, the couple elopes to Las Vegas with little money in order to marry away from disapproving parents. The episode feels like an original The Hangover: a crazy trip to Vegas where everything goes wrong before a wedding. As a cherry on top, Zack and Kelly eventually get hitched at a chapel appropriately named The Sliver Bells Chapel.
13. Jane and Rafael: Jane the Virgin

Thew, it took all five seasons, a few other weddings and divorces, for Jane to finally tie the knot with Rafael. Whether viewers were Team Michael or Team Rafael, it is still great to see a harmonious end to the modern telenovela.
The ceremony’s memorable for all the adorable moments that bring the show together: Mateo shouting while doing a reading, Rafael calling Jane’s mom and step-dad “mom and dad,” and Rafael breaking down while attempting to read his vows. It’s a beautiful end to the series.
14. Luke and Lorelai: Gilmore Girls

While technically not during the series’ run, Gilmore Girls: A Year in the Life features a beautiful wedding montage for the favorite couple, Luke Danes and Lorelai Gilmore. It’s a simple, wholesome event that takes place in Stars Hallow’s central square, at a gazebo with little to-do.
Ironically, Lorelai vetoed any idea of marrying at the gazebo back in Season 6 of the show, but it turns out that the simple ceremony perfectly concludes the show’s reunion. Fans waited years to see this wedding come together finally.
15. Blair and Chuck: Gossip Girl

Blair Waldorf and Chuck Bass from Gossip Girl make up one of the most iconic TV couples. Two strong personalities who seem destined for each other yet run into their fair share of problems and drama over the course of the show.
They have an aptly chaotic wedding in Central Park in the series finale, rushed by the police. Blair’s dress is nothing short of fabulous, untraditional, and extravagant, and there is nothing more Chuck Bass-like than getting taken away by cops after the two hastily exchange vows.
