Motherland: Fort Salem Season 3 Episode 6 Review: Book Club
Motherland: Fort Salem Season 3 Episode 6, “Book Club,” delivers laughs, heart, and riveting portrayals of love.
We are genuinely spoiled this episode with an obscene amount of wholesome content. Splitting the Unit apart allows them to have a meaningful moment to themselves before the inevitable war.
Between Tally and her mother reuniting, Abigail’s return to Fort Salem, and Willa’s visit, happy endings all around are had.

“Book Club” is emotionally exhausting and gripping in every sense. Scene after scene, we’re drawn in by the spellbinding story immersed with tenderness and devotion. These characters deserve this moment to breathe and truly feel what it is to be happy again.
The father-daughter moments between Edwin and Scylla are simply the best. Their interactions are enthralling and emotionally moving at the same time. To Edwin, Scylla is the remaining piece of his family, and to see that evoked is truly mesmerizing.
Scylla grew up on the run, never having anything permanent in her life until Raelle. She’s experienced enough grief in her life, especially having to endure the death of her parents at such a young age. She deserves total happiness.
Scylla’s only sense of pleasure or bliss is when she’s with Raelle and Edwin. They are her family now, and I’ll go down screaming it into the void – Scylla deserves a humble life with the woman she loves!

We can’t talk about Scylla and Edwin without mentioning the joyous moment Willa reunites with them. Edwin and Willa never had a chance to say goodbye to one another because Willa had to ensure everyone thought she was dead.
It’s a captivating moment and a splendid ending to Edwin and Willa’s story. This closure between them has been warranted for quite some time, and it’s only fitting it happens before the series is over for good.
One shocking turn of events is Tally’s mother, May, becoming a vigilante and actively resisting the government. We haven’t seen May since the season one premiere episode, and boy, things have changed since then!

The dotting mother attempting to keep her baby out of harm’s way and away from fighting we see in season one is now the one fanning the flames on the growing war. But it’s a change that we can respect and admire.
The actions of Tally and the book club are not to be taken lightly, though. Now that there has been yet another government, aka camarilla, building explode, the situation is bound to get bloodier quickly.
Hopefully, we haven’t seen the last of May and the witches fighting alongside her. We need Tally and her mother fighting side-by-side in the finale!

I love and appreciate how the series is gearing up for the ending episodes by allowing times of peace and tranquility to happen.
It feels safe to say that this will be the last cushiony, fan-service episode until possibly the finale. President Silver (gag) signing the bill and allowing the military to enter the Cession will be one of the final descents to complete chaos.
Thelma is preparing for an all-out war between the government and the Cession, and is ready to fight to the death. Situations are about to turn bloody for many witches, and we can only hope it doesn’t include anyone essential to the series.
Motherland: Fort Salem is clear about the direction the series is headed in going forward. It’s wartime, and things are going to get ugly.
Stray Thoughts:
- The group hug between Scylla, Tally, and Abigail is enough to feed my soul for weeks! Scylla casually putting her arm around Abigail’s waist and pulling them all in for a hug?? I can’t deal!
- Petra, Adil, and Abigail’s reunion hug is also a celebratory moment because, on top of their return to Fort Salem, Adil finally feels at home. It’s all over his face as he melts into Petra’s warm embrace.
- It’s a stress reliever for Edwin to finally know the truth about Willa, and Scylla no longer has to keep secrets from him.
- Quinn using far speech to communicate with Willa is the most significant serotonin boost ever.
- Now that Abigail knows the truth about Penelope, hopefully, she can help bring Penelope back to her human state full-time. After all, Abigail did play a significant part in Penelope’s death; it’s only fitting she helps her in any way she can.
