Evil Season 3 Episode 7 Review: The Demon of Cults
The quest for true demonic acts continues for the assessor team on Evil Season 3 Episode 7, “The Demon of Cults.” This time they dive headfirst into a new age group that many are calling a cult.
It’s all for the sake of saving this young man, Owen, whose parents believe is no longer brainwashed but instead is possessed.
For the first time in a while this case actually seems to be the work of a demonic possession. Which is a nice change up from previous episodes.
LeConte Finally Asks David For Too Much

Let me just start off by saying that LeConte somehow captures every scene he is in despite not appearing to be a large presence. That is the talent and strength of Brian D’Arcy James coming out in full force to command our attention every time he speaks.
Ever since David agreed to be a part of “Friends of the Vatican” I have wondered where would he draw the line. I’m honestly so glad he draws the line at helping them spy on Lexis Bouchard.
While David is a man of God he is also a man of loyalty to those he considers family. It’s always been apparent that Kristen means the world to him even if he can’t allow their relationship to flourish as he would want.
David turning them down could have easily blown up in his face, but instead they simply did the task without him and then clued Kristen in on everything going on. It’s going to be fascinating to see moving forward just how much the Friends will be relying on David since he’s now turned them down and fought them on their asks.
Kristen now being in the loop about everything is going to complicate her relationship with David too. After all, it was LaConte who told her everything not David.
Knowing Kristen she’s probably going to hold that against David ever so slightly moving forward. Especially if Leland does get his way and weedles into Lexis’ life.
Dr. Boggs The Author?

The character of Dr. Boggs has consistently been an intriguing one. It’s always been hard to descern just where he lands on the belief and understanding equation.
Ever since he has had an experience with a demon though, he’s been even more unpredictable. It’s frankly made viewers question his capabilities as a therapist — more so than his willingness to treat Leland and Kristen and Sheryl despite it being a conflict of interest for him to do so.
Now, he is allowing Leland to manipulate his mindset as he tries to write a book about his experiences. It’s clear that this is just the beginning of Boggs’ descent into the world of demons and possession.
If he so easily subscribed to the actions required for 10 pages of creativity who’s to say he isn’t going to do far worse things to eke out an entire career as a writer? Today cutting Sister’s hair.
Tomorrow? Who knows.
Sweet Ben Deserves More

Finally, I think it is time we all face the elephant in the room. Ben has been trying his best to find his place to belong; opportunities to be loved.
Previously he fell for Vanessa and her “attached sister” and we all know how that went. Now, he’s working the case and discovers Renee one of his Science Club friends which leads to some romantic moments.
Why then must the writers insist on Ben ending up drenched in goat’s blood and another disasterous romantic entanglement in his rearview mirror? Ben deserves to have love, family, and connection just as much as Kristen and David do.
Sure, he gets a bit of that through Kristen’s daughters who are all enamored by him. But, doesn’t Ben deserve something that is all his own?
Honestly, I’ve thought so since the beginning. I am Team Ben til the end of time. Get him a safe, solid love interest, please.
