Netflix Geeked Week Film Day: 5 Things We Learned

Much like the TUDUM event that the streamer organized in September of 2021, Geeked Week expands on sharing all new shows and films with viewers worldwide, focusing on all things horror, sci-fi, fantasy, and all things genre.

Day two of the five-day event continued with teasers, sneak peeks, and panels from their upcoming film slate, including The School for Good & Evil, The Gray Man, Wendell & Wild, and more.

Animation Kicks Off the Day & Brings a Comedic Pair Together

Geeked Week Day Two began with a look at one of the streamer’s latest animated films, The Sea Beast. From the filmmaker behind Disney’s Moana and Pixar’s Big Hero Six comes a story that follows a young girl who sets out to travel the high seas with a crew of monster hunters led by the famous Jacob Holland.

The Sea Beast features the voices of Karl Urban, Zaris-Angel Hator, Jared Harris, Marianne Jean-Baptiste, Dan Stevens, and Kathy Burke. Check out the trailer of the animated film below!

WENDELL & WILD

Throughout the shortened film showcase, viewers also got a chance to get a first look at Henry Selick and Jordan Peele’s animated project, Wendell & Wild. The stop motion film follows 13-year-old Kat Elliot, recruited by a pair of demons to bring them back to life. The animated movie also sees the reunion of comedy pair Keegan-Michael Key and Peele, who voiced the demon brothers.

Wendell & Wild is expected to premiere in October.

Class Is in Session In The School for Good & Evil

Among one of the panels shared with fans was one featuring the young stars of the upcoming adaptation of The School for Good & Evil, Sophia Wylie, who plays Agatha, and Sophia Anne Caruso, who plays Sophie.

Wylie and Caruso shared that this friendship’s perseverance was at the core of the adaptation despite the obstacles throughout the film. When it came to costumes for the film, the costuming department took a collaborative approach with the actors as the visions of Agatha and Sophie were brought to life.

It wouldn’t be a Geeked Week panel without a sneak peek and fans getting treated to the film’s teaser featuring the leading ladies joined by Charlize Theron, Kerry Washington, Shadow & Bone‘s Kit Young, and more!

The Russo Brothers Talk the Upcoming Star Studded The Gray Man

After what seems like an eternity of casting announcements that rivaled that of the upcoming Rian Johnson’s Knives Out follow-up, fans got more insight into what went into making the film and peeks at the Russo Brothers’ The Gray Man.

The Gray Man follows a former inmate-turned-CIA agent that now finds himself with a target on his back, and the ones he once called colleagues are now hot on his tail. The film’s cast includes Ryan Gosling, Chris Evans, Bridgerton‘s Rege-Jean Page, Ana de Armas, Jessica Henwick, Alfre Woodard, and more,
