Brett Goldstein Confirms ‘Ted Lasso’ Season 3 Is Being Written As An Ending

News, Ted Lasso

We may have to prepare to say goodbye to AFC Richmond, as Ted Lasso could end with its upcoming third season.

According to Brett Goldstein’s recent interview with The Sunday Times, Ted Lasso Season 3 is being written as an ending. We have known Ted Lasso came with an expiration date as Jason Sudeikis said there were only three seasons planned.

Everyone expected that to change with the show’s success. However, Goldstein confirms otherwise.

“We are writing it like that. It was planned as three. Spoiler alert: everyone dies,” Goldstein said. “The story that’s being told — that three-season arc — is the one that I see, know, and understood.”

Although the news is extremely saddening, it was unavoidable. That could be why fans are acutely aware of Ted Lasso‘s cast and crew’s posts on social media.

Earlier this week, Bill Lawrence, Ted Lasso‘s co-creator, tweeted, “Maybe it’s over.” Fans freaked out, assuming it was about the series.

Not long after, Lawrence confirmed he was tweeting about sports, stating that Jason Sudeikis makes all decisions about the show’s fate.

However, fans can find a bit of hope in Lawrence’s previous comments to The Hollywood Reporter about how the story was coming to an end as it was planned, but that did not mean the show would end entirely.

“I would say that this story is going to be over next year, regardless — even if the show finds another story to tell and goes on,” Lawrence shared.

The reactions to Lawrence’s tweets probably had a lot to do with Brendan Hunt’s recent interview with Teddington Nub News.

Hunt dicussed Ted Lasso‘s growth and his uncertainty about whether Season 3 will actually be the end for the Greyhounds.

“That is a tough question and I really can’t say for sure that this will be the last series and I know there’s been lots of speculation. You do feel it has a life span but it still feels as if it is growing. Originally, it was always intended to be a three series show,” Hunt said.

“There are lots of stories to unravel and settle one way or another in Series Three but when it does finally end all I can say is that we will take great care in landing the plane in a proper and loving way,” Hunt added.

Between Hunt wishfully talking about a continuation to the series, Lawrence’s tweets, and Goldstein’s comments about the ending, Ted Lasso fans are uncertain about where the show will go next. However, hope is not lost until Jason Sudeikis confirms the news himself.
