Duncanville Review: Clothes and Dagger (Season 3 Episode 2)
Duncanville Season 3 Episode 2, “Clothes and Dagger,” reminds us how important the power of friendship is as Annie and Jack come face to face with the younger, more harsh generation.
This show never fails to make me laugh, and this is especially true on “Clothes and Daggers” when Annie and Jack argue with a group of millennials.
No, I’m The Clown

Whether unspoken or spoken, your friend group knows the roles you all play. Duncanville divides their friend group accurately, without (intentionally) making anyone upset.
Almost as soon as Wolf finds out Duncan is planning on changing his personality to be cooler, there’s a shift in how Wolf acts around the group.
It may seem at first to be jealousy, but by the end of the episode, it’s extremely clear that he’s concerned for Duncan and who this attitude will bring him towards.
Even though we’ve gotten some background, we’ve never seen Wolf at the center of an episode like “Clothes and Dagger.” As a result, Duncanville gives us a chance to appreciate Wolf more as he shows the audience, and Duncan, that he’s more than just a grumpy guy.
Schlub Season

Parents will typically take any opportunity to embarrass their children, and Annie and Jack are no different as we explore their fashion sense.
As much as we may love our parents, there’s always a fashion disconnect because of when they grew up and when we grew up. So Annie and Jack selling almost every piece of clothing they own, only to go out and buy the exact same stuff is such a parent thing to do.
Dads will wear a shirt for five years, go to the store, and accidentally purchase the same exact one.
Kimberly and Jing get an opportunity to embrace their parents despite their terrible fashion, which is how it always should be, frankly.
Bernie Sanders Will Never Be President

Even though Duncanville episodes are clearly formatted in a “story a, story b” type of way, the little things added to these stories are some of the best things about them.
Duncan using a pocket knife to slash Darth Vader’s lightsaber is one of those moments. Then later, as Duncan and Wolf are about to fight, Jake Tapper appears and is seemingly recording the fight for CNN.
These small devices added to stories are always hilariously shocking in an almost unbelievable way. Yet they work every single time.
Stray Thoughts:
- I have never faced the struggle of taking a teenage boy to go clothes shopping, and now I never want to. Thanks, Duncanville!
- I imagine with names like “the ankle bracelet kids,” each new student in Oakdale is given a Mean Girls-esque introduction to the cafeteria.
- I love that Annie and Jack are both the epitome of helicopter parents while also allowing their son to keep a knife he found in a parking lot.
