Dynasty Review: Devoting All of Her Energy to Hate (Season 5 Episode 6)
Fallon makes strides in her newfound journey to becoming a better person on Dynasty Season 5 Episode 6, “Devoting All of Her Energy to Hate.”
With Fallon officially off medical leave, it’s time that she returns to Fallon Unlimited, but not before Jeff can do one last thing – take Fallon Unlimited green and make it energy efficient. And what better way to do that than with the previous company the two helmed?
Morell Corp is still in the energy game and the perfect opportunity for the two to erase the carbon footprint that Fallon Unlimited has. However, upon agreeing with Jeff, Fallon soon regrets her decision when she realizes who the new CEO is; Patricia de Vilbis, her long-time archnemesis.
Patty rejects any offers from the two for Morell Corp and instead invites them to a party at city hall. She claims that the entire event will be powered by solar energy as the company’s first step to making the city more energy-efficient.

Thanks to a bit of corporate espionage, Jeff figures out that Patty is running a scheme under Morell Corp’s name. Instead of being completely solar-powered, she admits to using petroleum and lying about being green.
“Devoting All of Her Energy to Hate” is a marvelous episode for showcasing Fallon Carrington’s character progression. At the beginning of Season 5, Fallon makes it known that she wants to create her own dynasty, but not in the same manner that Blake did.
Even after realizing that Patty is greenwashing and lying to the community, Fallon is still hesitant to do anything. She’s been in Patty’s shoes before when she consistently tried to prove herself to Blake.
The old Fallon Carrington wouldn’t think twice about exposing Patty and humiliating her in front of everyone. But the new and improved Fallon has a newfound sense of empathy, even for people she doesn’t generally enjoy.

Instead of reveling in the destruction of Patty’s public image, she tries to swoop in and help save it. After her vile and atrocious father, Peter de Vilbis, agrees to sell Morell Corp back to Fallon, she offers Patty a job.
Putting Patty’s missteps to the side, Fallon can see she’s a hard worker and wants to help her, so she offers her a position to do some good. Patty, however, still has her qualms with Fallon and will never accept a job under or beside her. She has too much pride to work with the woman who got her cut off.
It’s evident that this will not be the last we see of Patty this season.
In the world of Sam Jones, it’s a difficult time as he fights his inner demons and struggles with accepting Daniel as his father. He focuses on Kirby and helps get her modeling agent back to get his mind off the situation.

Despite Sam focusing his attention on Kirby to distract himself, Daniel continues to push, leading to blowback from Sam. Daniel may be coming from the right place with his intentions, but Sam can’t see that.
All Sam can see and feel is rage because of the abusive childhood he had to endure and how it could have been prevented. In Sam’s head, Daniel caused him to have a horrible upbringing, and he can’t see past that. Until that is, he gets a little unwarranted advice that he takes to heart.
While Kirby strikes out with her previous agent, Gretchen, she does not with Charlie, Gretchen’s business colleague. Even after hearing about Kirby’s past mistakes, Charlie still wants to represent her.
Charlie lets Kirby know that everyone makes mistakes when they’re young and scared. Judging someone for those past mistakes does no good because humans constantly evolve and grow.

Coincidentally, Sam is present at the right moment to hear the advice he desperately needs. He soon realizes that he’s judged his father too harshly and prematurely.
After all, Daniel was unaware of Sam’s existence until he was five years old. And even then, Sam’s mother kept it a secret and was in another relationship – Daniel had no way of proving that Sam was his at the time and didn’t want to stir up drama.
Sam’s storyline this season with his father is already an emotional and relatable one, and it’s bound to continue hitting the hearts of the audience as it grows.
Daniel seems only to have good intentions with Sam, but this is Dynasty, so I have my reservations because the ball could drop at any moment.
Other Thoughts:
- Culhane and Liam’s new movie adventure together should, hopefully, be a fun one, especially with Nina attached. Culhane and Nina will likely follow the classic enemies-to-lovers trope, but I’m alright with that. Dynasty can do whatever it likes as long as it keeps Felisha Terrell on my screen!
- Cristal and Rita’s fight is epic, but words cannot describe how happy I am that this storyline is potentially over. However, thanks to Blake’s cunningness, Beto fled to Mexico without his hands on the Flores business. So, now it’s time for Cristal to prepare herself because I fear Beto isn’t gone forever.
- Jeff and Fallon have an excellent business relationship; it only makes sense that he stays on as the CEO of Morell Corp.
