Disney+ Orders New Muppet Series Centered on Dr. Teeth and the Electric Mayhem Band
Disney+ announced it has ordered a new Muppet series called The Muppets Mayhem, which will follow Dr. Teeth and the Electric Mayhem Band’s attempt to record their first album.
Dollface‘s Lilly Singh will take on the human lead of Nora, a junior A&R executive given the task of managing and wrangling the band and the actual mayhem that comes with them.
“The Muppets are renowned for quality, creativity, and unrivaled, fun storytelling for the whole family. We are thrilled to have Adam, Bill, and Jeff at the helm to bring all of these iconic and great new characters to life in fresh and dynamic ways,” said Ayo Davis, President of Disney Branded Television.
The series was developed by The Goldbergs‘ Adam F. Goldberg and Jeff Yorkes, as well as Bill Barretta, whose previous work includes The Muppets and Muppets Haunted Mansion. ABC Signature — which also produces Singh’s Dollface — will produce the series with The Muppets Studios.

On the creative team behind the new series, ABC Signature President, Jonnie Davis said, “Adam F. Goldberg is our resident Muppet enthusiast at Signature, and getting to play in the sandbox with Bill, a longtime Muppet performer, as well as these beloved characters was a dream come true for him, Bill, and Jeff.”
“Their take is fresh, fun, musical, and of course, hilarious. We couldn’t be happier to be the studio that is helping them get the band back together,” Davis continued.
Long-time fan favorites, Dr. Teeth and The Electric Mayhem Band served as the house band for the original The Muppets Show in the 70s. Except for the drummer, Animal, the band members have served mostly as supporting characters to the more well-known names like Kermit and Miss Piggy — at least until now.
On behalf of The Muppets Studio, David Lightbody, executive producer and Senior Vice President of Disney Live Entertainment, commented, “We are so excited to bring the story of The Electric Mayhem Band to the front and center of this new series.”
“They’ve been entertaining audiences since The Muppet Show, which debuted 45 years ago, so it’s wonderful that these characters are finally getting to play lead rather than supporting roles,” Lightbody continued, cementing why The Muppets Mayhem is necessary after all these years.
