Legacies Review: You’re a Long Way From Home (Season 4 Episode 6)

Legacies, Reviews

The Super Squad trains for their face-to-face with Hope on Legacies Season 4 Episode 6, “You’re a Long Way From Home.”

With Hope on the loose and Alaric still in a coma, things look grim for the Super Squad. What they need is leadership to look toward for strength. That someone used to be Hope, which is why choosing a leader is essential.

Kaleb has in his mind that he should be the squad leader because nobody else has the qualifications. However, he forgets that the relationship between him and his peers is currently strained.

There hasn’t been enough time passed since he betrayed them and willingly gave Hope over to Malivore. The trust they have in Kaleb is gone, and it’s something that is hard for him to come to terms with. MG benching him is what makes him see the error in his ways and why the new leader could never be him.

MG is in the right to bench Kaleb. Besides, if anyone is going to be the new leader of the Super Squad, it has to be either MG or Josie. Nevertheless, MG is the better choice in this situation. He has a better handle on his emotions than anyone else at the moment and can be trusted with a decision.

Although MG is the clear leader, Kaleb’s idea to begin field training is genius. The squads’ inability to control their skills to their full capacity is a disadvantage, especially going up against Hope.

Since the creation of the school, it has never been about training the students to become fighters; or anything of that nature. But maybe they should have been. They’re obviously taught how to control their urges, frustration, and how to harness their powers. But, never in the manner of which they need now.

Field training is something that needed to be introduced when the monsters were flooding in consistently. If they had done so, there’s no way they couldn’t put up a decent match against Hope.

Ethan and Finch would still be at a basic skill level, but not Wade. Fairy magic is something that could come in handy, and let’s face it, it could be next level. It’s a shame that there hasn’t been any time to figure out how to utilize his character in the past three seasons.

Cleo’s knowledge of what can kill Hope is dangerous information. While the stake gives the Squad the upper hand, it also poses a difficult question. Are they willing to kill Hope? Because from what is shown, that stake isn’t meant to subdue her; it’s meant to erase her from existence.

The knowledge of the tree Hope, Lizzie, and Josie created in the hands of the Triad would be chaos. Hope thinks that her upcoming war with the Triad is a game, but it’s game over if they get wind of the weapon to destroy her.

Landon’s death was supposed to signal the beginning of a new chapter, so why are we still focusing on him? Let him meet his fate already! While we’re at it, let him take Alaric, too.

Other Thoughts:

  • Lizzie’s battle with her inner demons has been going on for a while now, and it’s about time she gets some real help. We’ve seen her take action in the past to combat her feelings, but sometimes focusing on “inner peace” isn’t enough. I hope the therapy box can genuinely help her.
  • Josie is so used to putting up a front with her emotions that she rarely lets others see them. Which, is why her breaking down in Finch’s arms is a significant moment in their relationship. She’s finally accepting that she has someone in her corner that is okay with her not being strong all the time.
  • I don’t trust Trudy whatsoever. There’s no way that she isn’t working with the Triad in some capacity because she’s too eagerly attached to Clarke.
  • Seeing the kids in class caught me by surprise. I almost forgot that the school remodeled and hired teachers again.
  • Kaleb needs to own his newfound dragon abilities just as Ethan has owned his new invisibility powers.

Favorite Quote:

  • “I know I’m not a therapy box, but I can hold you, and you can be however you need to be. The worlds not going to fall apart if Josie Saltzman breaks down for a bit.” – Finch
