Legacies Review: See You on the Other Side (Season 4 Episode 4)
On Legacies Season 4 Episode 4, “See You on the Other Side,” Hope accepts her fate to save her family.
“See You on the Other Side” is a phenomenal episode that fans were robbed of during the airing of Season 3. Everything about it screams finale, and if it aired when it was supposed to at the end of last season, it would go down as their best finale throughout the series.
There could be some backlash due to Landon’s death, but instead of delivering an ending where fans would be reeling during hiatus, a sense of serenity is provided instead. And, for once, everyone gets a semi-happy ending with storyline progression.
The best thing about how great this episode is is that there will be no long hiatus afterward. There will be no waiting, and it’s a beautiful feeling because waiting to see what Hope does next would be pure torture.

Hope’s tribrid status will usher in a new era on Legacies as her presence is felt around the supernatural world. One that I’m not sure she’s ready for.
The decision for Hope to switch her emotions off is no shocker. It’s a move that most fans don’t want to be taken, but it’s almost like a rite of passage if you think about it. Nearly every significant vampire in the TVD/TO universe has had their turn at an emotionless adventure due to emotional pain.
Without Hope confirming so to Alaric at the end of the episode, it’s noticeable that she switches her emotions off. You can see the emotion fade away from her face and the light in her eyes dim as she watches Landon fall. Danielle Rose Russell deserves a round of applause for her acting in this scene because it’s perfection.
Landon’s death has also been a long-time coming, and my only hope is that he stays dead. We don’t need him returning to the world of the living; we need Hope to move on once and for all.

Aria Shahghasemi is an outstanding actor, but Landon as a character has hit his ending. He had a good run and will be missed, but there is no longing for him to return from me. That also applies to Malivore.
In the end, Malivore is in limbo with Ted (who might be the necromancer still?), reminiscing about their past endeavors. But, it’s time for Malivore to make his exit as well. With Hope’s newfound tribrid status, there’s no reason for him to continue to stick around. You know, seeing as how she’s his kryptonite and he met his demise.
It’s been three full seasons of the same villains and same situations; it’s time for a switch-up. Malivore needs to stick to the script and stay dead as the ritual intended. Hope needs to explore and gather some new villains to beef with. I’m sure there are plenty of people waiting to take their stab at the almighty tribrid.
My heart overflows with love for Josie, and I will forever die on the hill that she deserves the best. So, seeing her get a happy ending, literally and figuratively, is a special moment.

Finch’s hesitance towards the relationship due to the merge is understandable. After first learning about the event, she isn’t thinking about Josie but how it affects her. She doesn’t want to fall in love with someone who will die in a few years. She needed time to digest the information.
Standing up to Dark Josie is no easy feat, and Finch doing so proves her feelings are real. She takes the chance to stay and ground Josie instead of running when she gets the opportunity, and it’s a beautiful moment. Josie needs someone like Finch, who is going to stay and pull her out of the dark times. This moment makes their bond so much more special.
I can’t wait to see what’s in store for Hope and the rest of the Squad from here on out. I will be welcoming Rebekah with open arms on Season 4 Episode 5, “I Thought You’d Be Happier to See Me.”
Other Thoughts:
- Josie is a straight badass for saving Cleo in the last few seconds before Malivore’s death. We need to see her being cocky more often. She is a badass, and it’s time that she owns it.
- It seems fitting that Ethan finally acquires his own special ability after his insistent pining. However, I’m not sure how Kaleb being part dragon will go mixed with the vampirism.
- Part of me lowkey wishes Kaleb would have set Alaric ablaze before coming back to his senses.
- The fact that Hope can still use her magic abilities is enormous. She’s the first witch to keep her abilities after turning, which would make her the most powerful witch. I assume it’ll play a crucial part in her upcoming storyline.
- I’m so happy to see Jed and Wade continuing to be in the middle in a monumental way. They’re the ones who figured out what Kaleb and Ethan were up to. They also allowed Josie to siphon them, leading to Cleo’s rescue, so they deserve some praise.
- The only thing that doesn’t sit well with me is knowing that a love triangle is being set in stone between MG, Lizzie, and Ethan. Love stories are a sure fire way to bring the drama, but I find them insufferable.
