HSMTMTS: Renewed For Season 3 at Disney+
Wildcats — we’re coming back for a third act!
Disney+ announced the renewal of the popular High School Musical: The Musical: The Series for a third season on Monday.
The show will be trading the hallways of East High for bunk beds and warm summer nights at the ultimate sleepaway camp.
With the show moving to a summer backdrop, production for the third season will be relocating from Salt Lake City, Utah — where the previous HSMTMTS seasons were filmed — to Los Angeles, where filming will begin later this year.

According to Disney+, the show will revolve around the kids trading in their schoolwork for “campfires, summer romances, and curfew-less nights.” The concept is similar to the second High School Musical film, which was also set in the summer at a prestigious country club.
Whether Season 3 will be following the previous year’s format has yet to be confirmed, but producer and creator Tim Federle told ET back in July, “I think the format stays similar-ish, but I would really love to shake things up with the Season 3 musical if we get one. There are really exciting possibilities and opportunities for a whole new sound that I think will surprise people.”
