Dynasty Review: You Vicious, Miserable Liar & Affairs of State and Affairs of the Heart (Season 4 Episode 20 & 21)
Fallon focuses on repairing her relationship on Dynasty Season 4 Episode 20, “You Vicious, Miserable Liar,” and Episode 21, “Affairs of State and Affairs of the Heart.”
A two-episode special allows for an in-depth look into Falliam’s relationship, but nobody comes out happier in the end, unfortunately.
While their relationship needs work, Fallon needs to look into a therapist for herself, and “You Vicious, Miserable Liar” gives her the opportunity. It’s a beautiful sight to see her realize that she doesn’t need to be clingy towards Liam or attempt to push him into getting over his feelings. She can’t control every tiny detail, and that’s an issue for her.
There will always be a fire lit underneath Fallon to constantly keep moving forward, but she needs to learn to slow down. It’s nice to see her engage with the therapist and gain some insight from an outside perspective. In doing so, it allows her to realize that she’s been doing entirely too much.

Colin and Fallon’s frenemies relationship is not appealing in the slightest, and it’s upsetting that Fallon can’t see through the ruse. It’s evident that Colin and Eva are working together to take Fallon down, especially after Eva coincidentally is at the office after hours during THE mistake.
While it’s frustrating to witness Fallon cheat on Liam, there can’t be a whole lot of blame thrown at her. In her eyes, Liam is the one done with the relationship. He is serving divorce papers, actively dodging her, and moving his belongings out of the mansion without explanation. At this point, there’s no way for her to know that the divorce papers are fake or that her assistant has it out for her.
Liam and Fallon working on their relationship in counseling is a spectacular moment because of the raw emotion that exudes from Liam. Him realizing that his insecurities with Fallon’s success ties to his own failures is a significant breaking point in their relationship. This moment of clarity between the two is something that has been looked forward to for a while.
Saying Liam is a failure is a long stretch, but it’s easy to see where he’s coming from. Fallon is a hardworking CEO that has her own business and dynasty, whereas he only has his few writing pieces and awards. Seeing this side of Liam allows viewers to relate with him on an emotional level that wasn’t possible before. It’s a tragedy that things blow up shortly after their breakthrough.

Unfortunately, Liam and Fallon’s relationship is left hanging on by a thin thread in the end, all thanks to Eva. Her psychotic ways of getting in between Liam and Fallon have worked now that she’s exposed Fallon as a cheater. Now, she has Liam right where she wants him; sad and heartbroken so she can make her next move.
Eva gives off the bitchy vibes, but nothing could prepare for just how twisted she truly is. Keeping a scrapbook with photos of her and Liam married is downright psycho but is an excellent twist to the character. However, it fuels the fire inside of me that wants Fallon to beat her. Like, physically whoop her butt. We’ve seen Fallon get down and dirty before, so knocking Eva’s lights out wouldn’t be too out of character.
Dynasty can draw out the relationship struggles between Liam and Fallon, but it’ll get old fast. If Liam is going to move on, then let him move on. The drama doesn’t need to be strung across the next season as well. Fallon moving on and focusing on herself as a single woman would be more pleasing, as much as Falliam is a fan favorite.
Besides the relationship drama, Amanda is finally showing Adam who’s boss. He thinks that he can threaten anyone he pleases without repercussions, but that’s not a fact. Amanda is about to teach Adam a lesson in fighting fire with fire, and she will come out on top.

It’s adorable that Adam thinks blackmailing Cristal and Sam into helping him will do any real damage to Amanda. She is by far the smartest of the two, and he has no idea what she’s capable of achieving.
While it may be entirely off base, there’s a gut feeling that Amanda could be the one to reintroduce Steven. Imagine Amanda takes a deep dive into Carrington’s history, learning about the fate of Steven. So, she makes a trip to France to check on her dear brother, understanding the real reason why he’s there.
Amanda has the potential to cause a lot of drama, and most importantly, clear up one of the most significant plot holes on Dynasty. Now, we can only hope that the writers use her to their advantage, furthering the plot in an entertaining way that can also bring closure.
Dominique deserves to have a sliver of joy in her life, but Brady will never be it. There’s something off about him from the very beginning. So, Alexis’s involvement is no shock to anyone.
Alexis has a weird obsession with Dominque and taking her down when she needs to be focusing on her own life. Seriously, is there nothing better for Alexis to do than focus her time and attention on ruining Dominque? She needs to find something worth living for that doesn’t involve her continuing attacks on Dominque. It’s sad at this point.
Blake’s senate run is quite dull if we’re honest. Nobody cares about the rich white man aiming for more power. However, involving Culhane is what brings the entertainment. Culhane knows how to play the field, which leads to some pleasant banter between the two and Culhane getting what he wants, which is always a plus.
The only thing that needs to be focused on in the finale is Fallon taking down Eva; the rest of the drama can wait.
Other Thoughts:
- While I may hate the character of Eva, Kara Royster is killing it in the role. I’m excited to see what she brings to the character in the finale.
- I’m sick and tired of these small casual mentions of Steven that last for a total of .2 seconds. The writers need to stop being sloppy with his storyline and do something about it. Hell, kill him off or bring him back; I don’t care, just tie the storyline up. Acknowledging a plot hole and making light of it isn’t cute or entertaining.
- Sam pretending to be Liam in the therapy session is comedy gold.
- Having to watch Jeff lose his mind while everyone around him watches is hard. Yes, Culhane questions his erratic behavior but knowing the extent of what Jeff has been through, there should be more follow-up. He’s losing part of his mind over the Mars mission because he’s stopped taking his medication.
- I’m ready for Kirby to put her foot down and come for the Carrington’s throats. Her burning the burn book in front of Culhane is a great power move. There’s no way that he would out her to Blake, but destroying that possibility is a smart move on her part.
- Sam needs to buy the hotel in LA and get away from Atlanta once and for all. His life would improve dramatically, and he might get a decent storyline out of it.
