Dynasty, Reviews

Amanda stands her ground against Adam, Fallon gets life advice from an old friend, and Sam self-sabotages himself on Dynasty Season 4 Episode 19, “Everything Looks Wonderful, Joseph.”

Fallon and Liam’s relationship has been hanging on by a thin thread for quite some time now. Liam wants more out of his relationship, and Fallon needs to focus on her business. Their decision to split, while it may be a stomp on our Falliam hearts, is seen coming from a mile away.

The show gives Fallon and Liam the dignity of splitting amicably without any harsh words thrown in exchange and, thankfully, no cheating scandals. Liam choosing to work on himself is the better move storyline-wise because if Liam were found cheating with Eva, there would be no way they could get back together.

Fans of the show know that Liam would never intentionally break Fallon’s heart by cheating on her, and making him do so would be character assassination. A breath of relief can be had knowing that nobody has to endure a fling between Eva and Liam.

While the relationship may be on a break at the moment, it doesn’t necessarily mean that we won’t see Liam and Fallon reunite at some point. They’ve been together in some capacity for the past two and a half seasons, and sometimes people need a simple break to realize what’s important to them. I don’t foresee this being the last time they’re together.

It’s hard to gauge how the break-up will affect Fallon, but one thing is for sure, she’s going to throw herself into her work, yet again.

Keeping Joseph Anders around even after death is a remarkable thing because for most shows when a character dies, if they come back as a ghost or vision nine times out of ten, it’s to haunt someone. But Anders only comes back in times of need to push his loved ones to their potential, and that’s beautiful.

Adding Eliza Bennett to the cast of Dynasty is the best decision made in almost two seasons. She is killing it with her portrayal of Amanda Carrington episode after episode, proving time and time again why she was the right choice for the job. I can’t envision anyone else doing it like she is, and I can’t wait to see the new levels she’ll bring to the character in Season 5.

Dynasty putting Amanda against Adam excites me in ways I can’t even begin to describe. With this show, there’s always a bit of hesitance towards new characters and how they’ll be intertwined with the bigger picture, but Amanda is a favorite already.

Adam follows in his typical footsteps of sabotaging anyone he deems unworthy of being near the Carringtons, but little does he know that’s exactly what Amanda wants. The time for Adam to meet his match has been needed for a while, and it’s finally here. Amanda is not a pushover that Adam can get rid of so quickly.

Because Amanda is a lawyer who knows how to get what she wants and doing research is quite literally a part of her job, Adam should be terrified. If the show is serious about pursuing this potential head-to-head, it’s going to get real messy quickly. Adam has a colorful past that he believes he’s covered up, but it’s doubtful that Amanda can’t find her away around it.

Imagine what Amanda will do once she realizes that she has a biological brother who is currently being held in a psychiatric facility! She could be the piece of the puzzle to wrap up Steven’s storyline for good finally, but my faith in the show giving Steven justice is low. Hopefully, the writers can recognize the fan outcry and do the right thing by bringing Steven back into the fold.

Sam is the emotional, lovable, overthinker of the show, but it’s time that he moves on from the Carringtons and focuses on his own life without them. He allows himself to get too invested in their shenanigans, and it ends up biting him in the butt in the end. Adam is the one who allowed Leo to die, so ultimately, it’s on his hands. Adam and Steven are not close, and saving Adam has no direct implications or impact on Cristal, so he should allow Adam to fend for himself instead of getting involved.

It’s not shocking that one of the Carrington’s sells him out to the reporter, but it is interesting to think who would do it. Placing money on Adam feels like a safe bet; however, if Blake believes that he can withdraw the heat from him and put it on someone else, there’s no doubt that he would do it. They are the obvious two choices, but a surprising twist would be Cristal betraying Sam.

No matter who did what, for whatever reason, Sam needs to get the hell out of their house and focus on his own life like Culhane is doing.

Other Thoughts:

  • I’m all for Dominque having happiness, but something feels off about Brady. His showing up out of the blue is not coincidental.
  • Fallon tripping off an edible-induced high is fantastic content. I don’t mind the alternate reality visions because it’s hilarious that even when stoned out of her mind, Fallon is still in business mode.

Favorite Quotes:

  • “I’m dead!? The edibles killed me? Oh my god, I knew I shouldn’t have trusted Amanda. Please don’t tell me I’m required to wear white in heaven because it’s after Labor Day.” – Fallon.
  • “I just electrocuted myself turning this on, so no, I can’t change the channel. I’m fine, by the way.” – Anders.
  • “You know, now that you’ve come at me, you should probably watch your back.” – Amanda.
