Big Brother Season 23 Week 3 Recap: Bye, Bye Brent

Big Brother, Recaps

Big Brother Season 23 finds its stride in week 3. All it takes is getting rid of one houseguest.

The Big Brother household is at peace after the departure of Frenchie. That is, of course, until the Wildcard competition starts. Which is also the same time Britini’s crying begins and never ceases.

Britini is acting like she is the first houseguest to be nominated as a pawn. This is a commonality in the Big Brother game, albeit a boring game tactic for viewers. She needs to get used to this scenario fast because if she is not evicted in week 4, she will be the Kevin of Big Brother Season 23, including all the whininess.

Since a houseguest is only able to play in the Wildcard competition once, the number of people eligible to play is dwindling. Each team makes a wise choice with who they select to play. However, Britini never stands a chance with Tiffany and Derek X, even if she is a better competitor than Azah or Derek F.

Derek X is finally showing where his allegiance is this week. After he and Hannah throw the HOH competition in order to prevent Brent safety, Derek volunteers to play in the Wildcard, so he can ensure once again Brent is not safe.

Derek X needs to be a bit more forward-thinking. His alliances do not include the other Aces. This means he is vulnerable when it is time for the alliance to start picking off their own members.

Tiffany proves she is the GOAT of Big Brother Season 23 by not taking safety in order to get Brent out. This validates her trust to the alliance and will get far in the game. If she takes safety for the week, she is a sure target in week 4.

Another reason Tiffany is the GOAT this season is because she is able to manipulate each HOH to evict her target. Granted her targets match the consensus of the house, but it is still enjoyable to see her convincing Xavier to nominate Brent this week.

If Tiffany continues to play like this, she is guaranteed to win $750,000. However, if she gets too power-hungry, she will turn into a big target. This is not a good scenario when her entire gameplay is built on getting out all the tough competitors early on in the game.

And someone who is not a tough competitor is Derek F. His horrendous performance during the POV competition is laughable. Up until this point, Derek F lays around and does nothing all day. This is his moment to shine and he clearly does not take advantage of it.

He definitely is not trying to compete, even though he swears he is vying to take Britini off the block. If he continues to not perform well in the competitions, he will be the first person evicted from The Cookout alliance.

However, Derek F is an easy houseguest to beat at the end. Past Big Brother houseguests take weak players to the end in order to win the game. That means we could see a lot more of Derek F. lazing around the house this season.

Finally,  the first showmance is blossoming on Big Brother Season 23. Sadly, it is Christian and Alyssa.

These two are a good match for one another but do not hold a candle to past showmances like Jeff and Jordan or Brendon and Rachel. If The Cookout alliance continues to dominate, this showmance will be short-lived as Alyssa is an early target.

And to no one’s disappointment, Brent is sent packing from the Big Brother house. It is clear Brent’s downfall is his own cockiness. Even in that excruciating long interview with Julie upon his eviction, Brent proves no one loves themselves more than he does.

When there are 80 cameras watching you 24/7, houseguests are generally on their best behavior. If this is Brent at his best, remind me never to fly whatever airline he works for as a flight attendant. Have fun with Travis and Frenchie back in the real world.

Like usual, the HOH competition rounds out the week. This time, the houseguests must play in their teams to win. This was a nice change since the teams twist will end at the conclusion of week 4. Unfortunately, the Kings are the victors and Christian is the new HOH.

This is trouble for the Aces as Whitney or Hannah will be the targets. Thankfully, we might miss a week of Britni rapping and crying!
