WandaVision Review: All-New Halloween Spooktacular! (Season 1 Episode 6)
WandaVision Season 1 Episode 6, “All-New Halloween Spooktacular!,” slows down the pace a bit. A lot of the episode is spent trying to flesh out things we already know, or already suspect, and it isn’t until the end where things pick up.
A slower pace isn’t a bad thing; it simply takes a minute to adjust to it. WandaVision is giving us time to sit with the revelation that Wanda is in charge while also exploring the doubts she has about how she conocted the hex around Westview.
The same thing is happening with those outside of the hex. There’s not much new information they are dealing with. Monica, Darcy, and Jimmy spend the episode trying to figure out their next move.

This is the first episode in Westview where the sitcom gags and humor aren’t as prominent. Aside from a couple moments featuring the twins and Pietro, there’s not a lot of the sitcom aspect that we’ve grown accustomed to seeing on WandaVision.
The title sequence gives us some hope that we’re in from some hilarious hijinks, but all we really get is Pietro, Tommy, and Billy causing chaos in super speed. Sure that moment is hilarious, but it’s disappointing that we don’t get more.
We still don’t have a ton of answers regarding Pietro. Wanda recognizes that something isn’t quite right and tests him, but he seems to pass Wanda’s tests, or at least convince her that she is forgetting some things, thus explaining away the differences in his story.
Pietro: I’m just trying to do my part, kay? Come to town unexpectedly, create tension with the brother in law, stir up trouble with the rugrats, and ultimately give you grief. I mean, it’s what you wanted. Isn’t it?
What’s really interesting is that he acts similarly to how Agnes does in Westview. They both poke fun at the sitcom aspect and reference Wanda being in charge of it all. In fact, they are the only ones in Westview who do either. Agnes and Pietro also both mention Vision being dead in this episode.
There’s definitely more than meets the eye with both Agnes and Pietro. The fact that they are the only two people in Westview who comment on the sitcom/TV show aspect without prompting of any kind cannot be a coincidence.
Perhaps Agnes is the one who brought Pietro here. I still believe Wanda when she said she didn’t do it WandaVision Season 1 Episode 5, “On A Very Special Episode…”
Pietro’s motivation is checking in with Wanda and asking about how this all started. Agnes, on the other hand, seems to want Vision to realize the true nature of his reality. She doesn’t nearly have the same dramatic reaction as Norm did when Vision woke him up on WandaVision Season 1 Episode 5, which is one of my many reasons why I’m suspicious of her.

The most exciting part of the episode is definitely those final moments.
VIsion pushing through the barrier, despite the fact he is disintegrating, manages to be emotional. He may not remember that he’s a hero, but this moment showcases his heroics by being willing to die in order to get help to those trapped in Westview. And then, there’s Wanda being a badass and expanding the barrier.
She doesn’t seem to be entirely in control at that moment because she goes far beyond saving Vision. Now, there’s a lot of S.W.O.R.D. agents that will be mucking around Westview, including our beloved Darcy.
It’s hard to believe that enveloping the camp outside Westview is intentional unless Wanda is extremely tired of their nonsense and wanted them to be clowns for a bit. That’s actually a pretty good form of revenge.

Stray Thoughts
- The twins getting their powers is exciting.
- Is it bad that I’m really excited that Darcy is in the hex now?
- It’s curious that right after Vision points out there are no kids, a ton of children appear.
- I do love this Pietro.
- The fact that this isn’t a Full House-inspired title sequence is a missed opportunity.
