Preview — This Is Us Season 5 Episode 8: In the Room
This Is Us is inviting us to the room where it happens.
That’s right, This Is Us Season 5 Episode 8, “In the Room,” offers viewers front row seats to the most important event of the season — the birth of the next Pearson generation.
For better or for worse, the Big Three have impeccable timing. That seems to extend to the births of their children now that Kevin and Kate are welcoming their children into the world within hours of each other.
The affair is certainly more complicated than that. Randall is coaching Madison through the final moments of her pregnancy and Kevin is still grounded at the airport. That’s some Big Three teamwork!
Kate and Toby, on the other hand, are watching from the sidelines as the surrogate delivers their baby girl. The details of Ellie’s decision to give the baby away were never fully resolved, so that should be interesting.
The Pearsons can never keep things simple, and it seems that sentiment continues to apply to childbirth.
Unfortunately, the birth of the next generation won’t quite be a family affair with a strict social distance rule keeping the Pearsons at arm’s length for one of their biggest milestones. Thankfully, it looks like This Is Us will once again look to the past for human intimacy.
When the chaos of childbirth passes, we will have three babies to welcome into the family, and three new opportunities for this show to capitalize on its time-bending storytelling.
And of course, the greater implications of their arrival will be held close to the chest until the series is ready to let us know how these three will coincide with the three “strangers” we got to meet last season.
