WandaVision Review: We Interrupt This Program (Season 1 Episode 4)
WandaVision Season 1 Episode 4, “We Interrupt This Program,” makes a bold choice to take us out of the sitcom and into the real world and not pick up from the moment that Monica is ejected from Westview. WandaVision is definitely never boring nor predictable, and the show keeps proving it episode after episode.
Taking us back to when Monica returns from the blip, which was three weeks ago, is the unexpected move, but it is definitely the right one.
Not only does it give a bit of shock factor, but it allows us to get to know more about Monica and what she’s been up to since Captain Marvel. We’ve only spent time with Geraldine, so it’s good to explore more of who Monica has become, especially if we’re going to root for her as the series progresses.

“We Interrupt This Program” shows how the investigation into Westview started, allowing us to follow along with the F.B.I. and S.W.O.R.D. as they watch the first three episodes and theorize what’s going on, just like we just did.
WandaVision continues to excel with how they treat television, whether it’s poking fun at the classic tropes of the sitcoms from that era or their take on the discourse and analysis around TV shows these days.
There’s something amusing about federal agents trying to deduce what’s going on by watching WandaVision and trying to put the pieces together. It’s also so much fun to watch Darcy and Woo get hooked on the WandaVision.

Can we just take a moment to appreciate how amazing it is to have Darcy back in the MCU? She’s as delightful as I remember, and it’s absolutely fantastic that she is the one making a lot of the big breakthroughs. Actually, her and Monica are really kicking ass when it comes to figuring out what’s going on.
Darcy and Woo are great leads for us to have during this episode. While it could be daunting to step out of the sitcom world that we’ve been spending time in, away from our two main leads, WandaVision makes it work by having characters we already know take over.
It’s been years since we’ve seen either of them, so it is great to catch up. I don’t know who I’m more proud of, Darcy for getting her doctorate or Woo for finally learning that card trick.
Agent Woo: So you’re saying the universe created a sitcom starring two avengers?
Darcy: It’s a working theory.
Darcy and Woo also manage to create some levity throughout “We Interrupt This Program” to help ensure that we get our weekly dose of comedy from WandaVision.
Throughout the investigation, we get to see the origins of all the little things and moments from the prior episodes that we were curious about, like the beekeeper and helicopter from WandaVision Season 1 Episodes 1 and 2. But, there’s still a hint of mystery there — why did they change color after stepping inside Westview?
There’s still a lot to unravel, but seeing how some of the pieces fit together helps make it feel like we’re not wandering around totally clueless. For instance, the unedited footage makes it pretty clear that Wanda is behind all of this, so now we can shift away from that mystery to the thirty others WandaVision has going on. Progress, people, progress.
It will be interesting to see if episodes from here on out are a hybrid of Westview sitcom moments and the investigation, or if we will continue to step away from the sitcom for an episode at a time in order to check in on the investigation.

Stray Thoughts and Questions
- Wanda creating this world out of grief makes sense, and it’s absolutely heartbreaking.
- Do we think Wanda is aware of the broadcast and is actively editing what we see?
- This is the first time we’ve seen Wanda’s powers like how they normally appear, not a sitcom version of them.
- Why did Wanda’s original powers show up now? Perhaps it means the sitcom world is not as stable as it originally was.
- Wanda’s normal powers showing up and then her seeing Vision as a corpse has to be connected.
- Don’t think we didn’t notice that Agnes doesn’t have a current form of ID.
