Legacies: Top Moments from ‘We’re Not Worthy’ (Season 3 Episode 1)
The long-awaited return is here as Legacies Season 3 Episode 1,” We’re Not Worthy,” focuses on setting things right between Josie and the rest of the school, Lizzie and Alyssa go head to head, and Hope’s fate is revealed.
Rafael does everything in his power to get Landon back, including working with the Necromancer to achieve his goal. Meanwhile, Lizzie, Josie, and the schools’ main crew must deal with a monster coming to steal the Excalibur blade in the middle of field day.
Here are my top moments from “We’re Not Worthy”:
Alyssa’s Evil Storyline

Alyssa Chang is the one witch in the entire boarding school that makes it known she doesn’t care for being part of the team, so naturally, she’s not excited to return to normal after Josie’s dark magic disappears. However, I think it’s a missed opportunity after last season to have her present herself differently this season.
I know that every school has that one “It Girl” that has to be entirely made up of rage and hate, but it’s boring for that to be her whole personality. Alyssa’s character has so much more potential, but it’s not adequately used, and it’s upsetting.
I would much rather have seen Alyssa and Josie sitting down together, talking out what happened and how they can get past it, instead of everyone allowing Alyssa to mentally and verbally abuse her afterward.
Josie was not in control of her actions, and being held accountable is essential, but shaming and tearing her apart publicly every chance Alyssa gets is not the way to go about it.
It’s evident after the season premiere that Alyssa will more than likely end up being one of the main villains this season as she joins the Necromancers team in the last few moments of the episode.
Alyssa joining the Necromancer’s team full-time sets up a potentially entertaining storyline if it’s played out correctly due to her relationship with everyone at the school, so I’m looking forward to seeing how it plays out.
Lizzie’s Agenda

Lizzie’s hyper-focus on Josie and trying to help her reclaim her reputation at the school after her dark magic streak comes from a place of love and protection for her sister, but where she messes up is not listening to Josie.
There are many instances where Josie tries to tell Lizzie that she doesn’t want to go along with her plan and she can’t do what she wants. Instead of trying to figure out what exactly Josie wants, she puts her in a position for her to fail because she doesn’t take a second to stop and remember why she’s so invested in taking down Alyssa anyway.
Josie has to deal with public humiliation as she’s dragged through the mud because she couldn’t cast her spell, admitting to everyone how she bottled her magic up to be safe.
Lizzie’s intentions are pure and derive from her love of Josie and how she feels she needs to defend her. While I may disagree with how Lizzie goes about everything, I wholeheartedly love how she handles Alyssa and puts her in her place in front of all the witches.
Are Lizzie’s comments about Alyssa’s parents harsh and a little far? Yes, but in my mind, it’s justified because of how hard Alyssa continues to dig into Josie just for the fun of it. Alyssa deserves what was said to her because it’s evident someone needs to crush her ego a bit. She has a big head and not enough talent to back it up.
I hope that Josie’s trip with her mother doesn’t mean that she will be missing for a considerable amount of the season.
Hope and Landon’s return

I won’t lie; this is a top moment in the episode because I love that Hope and Landon are back together in the living realm. However, in general, the scene is weak and feels too much like a Disney channel episode scene. Especially with Hope waking up after Landon kisses her for .2 seconds like she’s sleeping beauty.
In an episode with so much anger and passion, the scene feels cheesy.
There’s no crazy reconnection between the two, no hysterics, no nothing. Hope has been in a coma, and Landon died, so why the calmness between both of them? There’s very little emotion in the scene overall. It’s bland and feels like it was rushed and needed to be filmed fast.
Overall I think that the episode is an alright intro to the season as it establishes all of our main characters and where they’re currently at. However, I hope that the execution of the storylines progresses and begin to feel less child-like.
Other Thoughts:
- I love that Rafael is the one to save the day as the hero, but when are we going to get a solo storyline that doesn’t primarily focus him on other characters? He deserves more.
- If we don’t see Alyssa Chang have a change of heart this season, then I hope she’s the wickedest villain we’ve ever seen. I want her to cause chaos and wreak havoc.
Favorite Quotes:
- “Literally everybody else was cool with it, you fallow-breathed toad.” – The Necromancer.
- “She’s not coming. I mean, I wish I was wrong, but we have to prepare ourselves for that. We have to make her proud of us for saving the day like she always does, and the only way to do that is together. United. So please, believe in me half as much as I believe in you, and we can get through this.” – MG.
- “Does it still smell like a dead body in here?” – Landon.
- “Okay, Boomer, maybe in your time.” – Josie.
