Preview — Roadkill Season 1 Episode 1
Roadkill kicks off its four-part miniseries with Season 1 Episode 1 on PBS Masterpiece, introducing us to the self-made, charismatic politician, Peter Laurence, played by Hugh Laurie.
The British political drama is created and written by award-winning playwright and screenwriter, David Hare. Alongside Laurie is Helen McCrory as Prime Minister Dawn Ellison, Pip Torrens as newspaper editor Joe Lapidus, and Sidse Babett Knudsen as Peter’s mistress, Madeleine Halle.
Hare takes on contentious Tory politics, following the Conservative minister’s public and private life which both seem to be in a state of chaos. Examining morality versus a thirst for power, Roadkill will show Peter’s pursuit of the ultimate prize amidst scandals, political plotting, and his own past coming back to haunt him.
Laurie is no stranger to playing a ruthless politician having inhabited the role of US Senator Tom James on HBO’s Veep. Roadkill takes him across the pond to compete in the UK’s political arena, portraying the fictional future of the Conservative party.
