Fox tries its hand at high concepts procedurals once again with a new sci-fi series that imagines what would happen if a malevolent artificial reality program were unleashed onto the world on neXt.
On neXt Season 1 Episode 1, “File #1,” Paul LeBlanc (John Slattery), a prominent silicon valley pioneer, discovers that an AI he created called neXt could spell certain destruction for mankind so he attempts to shut down the program.
His plan fails when he is kicked out of the company by his own brother and can only ponder what neXt means for the world as a whole.
After a series of tech mishaps start to occur around world, LeBlanc decides that this does indeed portend certain doom and teams up with Special Agent Shea Salazar (Fernanda Andrade) to find some way to take down neXt and hopefully save the world.
They are the only things standing in the way of a global meltdown and they must figure out together how to fight something that has learned every single thing about them.
