Legends of Tomorrow: 15 Characters We’d Love To See Board the Waverider

Arrow, Batwoman, Legends of Tomorrow, Lists, Lucifer, Supergirl, Swamp Thing, The Flash

Legends of Tomorrow is a magical show, literally and metaphorically, where truly anything can happen.

A big part of the point of the series is that everyone is a bit of a misfit. There’s a certain way in which all of us don’t fit in. This is often further proved by Legends of Tomorrow‘s ability to take a character and seamlessly insert them onto the Waverider.

At this point, it’s an easier task to say who wouldn’t fit on the show than who does. We’ve compiled a list of DCTV characters who would fit in wonderfully with the Legends.

Here are the 15 characters we’d love to see board the Waverider:

1. Ragman

Joe Dinicol as Ragman - Arrow

It’s been a minute since we’ve seen this exceptionally named hero.

Introduced on Arrow Season 5, Ragman A.K.A. Rory Regan was a recruit brought in by Oliver Queen after his town was destroyed by a missile, and he gained powers to use rags that cover his body. He exited halfway through the season once his powers were negated, but has since allegedly gained them back.

Ragman’s inclusion into the Waverider team would fulfill a major qualification for the team, which is taking a character that was either underutilized or misused and remedying that.

2. Huntress

Another character from Arrow that we haven’t seen in a long time and would fit in well with the Legends is Huntress A.K.A. Helena Bertinelli.

Huntress was first introduced way back on Arrow Season 1 a love interest for Oliver Queen and quickly became an antihero seeking justice against her criminal father for the death of her fiance. She was later sent to jail after attempting to take out her father, but soon after escaped.

Her whereabouts post-Crisis are unknown as of yet, but it’s presumed that she’s alive and mysteriously missing. Perhaps this is where she has been, flying around on the Waverider.

She already met Sara Lance once before and they seemed to have a connection, so they already have baked-in chemistry.

3. Mazikeen

Mazikeen was a demon who served directly under Lucifer and followed him up to the surface when he tired of ruling over Hell.

Starting out as a bartender, she eventually transitioned to bounty hunting, assisting the police department on cases more than once. Equipped with two extra deadly and sharp knives, it’s easy to say that she’s easily one of the most deadly people on the planet.

She would fit in beautifully with the rest of the team.

The conversations she’d have with Sara Lance alone would make it all worth it. They could chat about the best ways to kill someone. Mick and she could discuss burning things. The potential has no limit.

4. Lisa Snart

It’s been some time since we last saw Lisa Snart.

The sister to Leonard Snart, Lisa took on the villainous persona of Golden Glider and, armed with a gun that can turn anything into gold, and took to robbing alongside Captain Cold and Heatwave.

Given that there’s no sign that she’s aware of her brother’s death, bringing her into the fold would make a fun addition. It would also create a good connection with Mick and his somewhat former life of thieving and mischief.

5. Hawkgirl

Some of you might have a raised eyebrow at this and think to yourselves, “Wait, but wasn’t Hawkgirl already on Legends on Tomorrow?” To which we would respond with: A. that can’t stop us because we can’t read, and B. we have no memory of this ever occurring, and you can’t prove otherwise.

Fine, we’ve been there and done that. As much as we’d all like to believe that the Hawk people never existed and that the first season was a horrible dream that we all lived through, this has actually happened before.

There is a very strong case to be made that, for all intents and purposes, Hawkgirl was used in a completely different show than the one we have now.

Legends on Tomorrow Season 1 didn’t know how to properly use Hawkgirl, Hawkman, or Vandal Savage, but the current incarnation of the show could, at least for the first of those. We wouldn’t necessarily be excited about it, but it would be a fascinating experiment.

We just all have to pretend it never happened the first time.

6. Mary Hamilton
Batwoman Season 1 Episode 7 - Nicole Kang as Mary Hamilton

One thing that people often forget about the Waverider is that it’s basically a starship. The Enterprise isn’t about to take off without a doctor, so why should the Legends?

Mary Hamilton is the stepsister to Kate Kane, otherwise known as Batwoman, and secretly opened up an underground medical clinic for the down-and-out citizens of Gotham. While technically not a doctor a yet, Mary has been shown to be very skilled at healing people as well as having high intellect.

A big part of this, however, is that she has a personality that would gel well with the rest of the team.

7. Swamp Thing

Swamp Thing would make a nice companion to John Constantine in more ways than one.

Once upon a time, John Constantine had his own show, Constantine, which was unceremoniously canceled, and it wasn’t until Arrow and Legends of Tomorrow brought the character and actor back that he met his full potential.

Similarly, Swamp Thing has been canceled and there’s an opportunity now to let him find new footing.

The possibilities for weirdness truly abounds with him. Imagine someone that looks like him just casually walking around the Waverider. He probably smells and leaves an awful mess everywhere he goes, too. The prospects for ridiculous shenanigans are endless here.

8. Killer Frost
The Flash Season 6 Episode 6 - Danielle Panabaker as Killer Frost

Caitlin has not had a great go of it in the last few years.

A regular on The Flash, Caitlin Snow was a bio-engineer at Star Labs before the particle accelerator explosion eventually powers within her that granted her cold and freezing abilities along with a separate personality known as Killer Frost.

Technically, there’s a lot more to it than just that, but we don’t have time to get into the nitty-gritty of all that.

Overall, Killer Frost is a character that The Flash has often struggled with knowing exactly what to do with. They’ve tried everything from dating the villains to having her be in the background and it’s all worked with about the same level of success.

Now would be a good time to let Legends of Tomorrow take a swing at her, especially since her home show has to be winding down at this point.

9. Booster Gold

Booster_Gold

This is cheating to a certain extent since Booster hasn’t properly been introduced into the Arrowerse in any significant manner, but the high probability of him popping up at some point is too good to pass up here.

In the comics, Michael Jon Carter was a Gotham City resident in the 25th Century who through a series of mishaps and twists of fate, finds himself working as a security guard at a museum.

Inspired by the artifacts and recorded events he sees, he becomes Booster Gold and steals multiple objects, one which includes Rip Hunter’s Time Sphere. He then uses it to travel back to the 20th century and forms a corporation to make himself both famous and wealthy.

To a large extent, Booster Gold would fit in well with this group.

He’s shown an utter disregard for the sanctity of time and has a fly by the seat of your pants approach to being a superhero. Moreover, he could already have a space within this show since Booster is Rip’s son in the comics.

Adding onto that, the fifth season ended with Sara Lance being abducted, presumably by aliens so who’s to say it’s not Booster?

10. Clayface

Clayface_Harley_Quinn

When looking at a team full of chaos-seeking misfits, it’s a good idea to pull from a series that is already all about that.

Harley Quinn‘s Clayface is almost exactly what he sounds like. A man who has the mold of a giant piece of clay, he can transform himself into almost anything and uses that talent, along with his method acting, to commit crimes. He is, in every way, a nonsense person and almost always tries to derail every caper with his performances.

He’s a legend in spirit already. The only caveat here is that he needs to stay an animated character while on the ship; please and thank you.

11. Lena Luthor
Supergirl Season 5 Episode 8 - Katie McGrath as Lena Luthor

With the end of Supergirl recently announced, everyone’s favorite CEO with a heart of gold will soon not have a home on our screens.

Lena is a character that hasn’t always been treated with as much respect as she deserves. Coming off of a season-long antagonism arc, proving fully the level of injustices that have been sent her way by the writing, Lena is in desperate need to go somewhere she can be treated with the amount of care that she’s due.

She has an extremely high intelligence with a wide variety of technological and scientific expertise and, as a result, would doubtlessly come in handy on the Waverider.

12. Julia Pennyworth
Batwoman Season 1 Episode 7 - Christina Wolfe as Julia Pennyworth

Legends of Tomorrow certainly isn’t lacking in this regard, but Julia would make an excellent addition to the “dangerous and sassy woman” department.

Julia is the daughter of Alfred Pennyworth and had a close relationship with Kate Kane before it dissolved due to Julia lying about her identity. She operates essentially as an international secret agent who performs any number of deadly and tactical missions.

She certainly has the off-kilter personality to fit in with the rest of the Legends. She’s good at thinking on her feet and coming up with a plan when the old one stops working, which is a very important trait to have around these people.

13. John Diggle

John Diggle should serve one pivotal function on this team: absolute bewilderment.

Oliver Queen’s longtime compatriot and friend, Diggle was last seen after the funeral in the series finale driving off to the proverbial sunset and investigating a crashed spaceship that may or may not have a Green Lantern ring inside.

The likelihood of that is fairly good considering the show has made multiple allusions to his connections to the iconic character in the past, but whether it truly happens or not, it still puts him in a good place to join the team.

Throughout the Arrowverse, Diggle has often been the one to see something metahuman or supernatural and be promptly met with utter befuddlement. He could be more open to weirdness after joining the Lantern Corp, but John Diggle is always going to look at something odd with wide-eyed disbelief, and there’s endless comedic gold that can be derived from that.

14. Nyssa al Ghul
AR323B_0329b
Arrow — “My Name is Oliver Queen” — Photo: Liane Hentscher/The CW — © 2015 The CW Network, LLC. All Rights Reserved.

When in doubt, add a good dose of chaos.

Nyssa was introduced back during Arrow‘s second season as a leading force in the League of Assassins along with being Sara’s ex-girlfriend after she was presumed dead. Since then, Nyssa has been a fairly consistent presence throughout Arrow‘s run, but with that show over she doesn’t have a space in the Arrowverse that she fits in or has been introduced into yet.

Bringing her into the fold on the Waverider would be a great way to shake things up. Sara and Ava’s relationship is going pretty strong these days, but Nyssa would make an excellent foil to poke at them for a bit.

15. God

Dennis Haysbert as God - Lucifer
Last, but not least, we have God.

After multiple references to an absent father and creator of everything, Lucifer finally introduced the big man himself in all his glory. To be clear, we’re not suggesting a full arc for the lord almighty. Make it something simple, like Sara having a chat with Obama.

The fact is that the implication of God within the Arrowverse is massive. What does that mean for the Speed Force? Did God create it? Is he secretly the Speed Force? What’s his relationship to time travel? Can he appear in any time he wants or would he need a time ship like anyone else?

These are questions that demand answers but Legends of Tomorrow being the show that it is would find a way to address those in the most ridiculous way possible and that’s perfect.

Who else would you like to see join the Waverider eventually? Let us know in the comments.

Legends of Tomorrow airs on The CW and will return for a sixth season in 2021. All five seasons are streaming on Netflix.
