Single Parents Review: No. Wait. What? Hold on. (Season 2 Episode 22)
Single Parents Season 2 Episode 22, “No. Wait. What? Hold on,” might be the most dramatic episode yet, as it should be since it features Angie and Will debating their feelings and whether or not to act on them. The stakes are high, which adds to the hilarity of the episode.
Honestly, it would have been better without the weird subletter/Bachelor storyline. Those scenes, while providing some laughs, take away from the intensity of the will they/won’t they struggle that’s going on.
It’s hard to fully enjoy that storyline because we are so invested in Angie and Will’s relationship. Plus, we barely got to know the four subletters, so we couldn’t really weigh in on Miggy’s choice (although Dave seems like he should’ve been cut).

We could have had Miggy and Rory roped into Poppy and Douglas’ schemes somehow, perhaps they are tasked with distracting Derek or giving Will a pep talk.
If Douglas somehow enlisted them, that would have been even better because him getting involved in this romcom-level drama is amazing on multiple levels.
Single Parents misses out by not making this episode tighter and only focusing on the Will and Angie drama. There’s a wealth of comedy and drama to explore here, and it feels like we barely scratched the surface — So, ABC, please renew Single Parents for a season 3!
Poppy: I think Angie likes Will.
Douglas: Angie likes Will? Will likes Angie! What is happening to me? I used to be a man.
We knew that Will was aware of his feelings, but Angie is just realizing them. While Leighton Meester does a great job of portraying those emotions through her facial expressions, it would have been better if we had more of her working out those feelings with Poppy.
She could have still done her trademark running away, but it would have been nice if there is just a little bit more of her processing things or terribly denying them to other people before the big slide show moment.
If there was just one more Angie-scene before the slideshow, it could have added a lot more tension. But, oof, that scene goes straight to the heart.

The “turn around” slide is such a dramatic way to reveal feelings, but it works. Will Cooper is excellent at slideshows and may have made me a bit misty-eyed.
Despite its shortcomings, “No. Wait. What? Hold on,” delivers an intense episode that leaves us, or maybe just me, yelling at our screens as Will doesn’t confess his feelings, and Angie remembers one final detail from that night.
It sets up an exciting Season 3, and I’m really hoping that Angie tells Derek to turn the car around and doesn’t spend the summer in Barstow.
Stray Thoughts
- So, musical episode next season? They are this close to regionals!!
- How do four hot guys actually respond to a Craigslist posting without any creepers also showing up?
- If this isn’t renewed, I will be devastated
