Legacies Review: There’s a Place Where the Lost Things Go (Season 2 Episode 14)

Legacies, Reviews

To fully process the trauma the students have recently been under, Emma uses a simulation to help them cope with it all. However, things take a twist when the simulation gets highjacked on Legacies Season 2 Episode 14, “There’s a Place Where the Lost Things Go.”

After being locked in the prison world and having to escape death, you’d think that a gentle training exercise to help get over some issues would be an enjoyable time, but it never is. However, I am happy to see that the dark side of Josie is still intact because I feel like a one episode occurrence wouldn’t make that big of an impact.

With the amount of energy Josie has there’s no way that we’ll see her defeated until the finale, if we even do then. With Season 3 being confirmed, it could be an excellent way to introduce the storyline for the new season if Josie doesn’t have the dark magic stripped from her by the end of Season 2.

As I mentioned in previous articles, the one thing that kind of irks me is the consistent new villain every week, even if it does make sense for the storyline down the road. It’s nice to have multiple episodes where the focus is on one individual and big bad, even if having multiple is more fun. If it doesn’t happen, I won’t be upset, but it would be a fresh possibility to explore.

In the simulation, especially after everything that’s been happening recently on the show, I don’t think it’s necessarily too hard to piece together that Josie is the killer. Her biggest threat has always been Lizzie because of the merge. I’m not saying that she secretly has a vendetta against her because Lizzie has gone on and on about the merge before, but that’s the only thing on her mind now that she’s possessed.

With the merge being this insanely important thing that’s scaring both Lizzie and Josie, I hope that in Season 3 we learn more about the event, how to stop it possibly, and what they could do to survive. It’s got to be hard to have to sit there and know that you’re eventually going to have to fight and kill your sister.

It’s not like either of them wants to, but when something like the merge is going to happen, it’s natural to think about what they would do to make sure that they don’t die, even if you don’t want to do it at all. I think that’s what the dark magic is bringing out in Josie; it’s her fear of dying in the merge.

The dark magic in Josie is holding onto her fear of dying and using it as an easy way to control her. It’s not good for anyone that we love, but my favorite moment from this episode is Dark Josie lifting herself to freedom and walking out of the burning school like it’s nothing. It’s an epic shot for an epic scene.

My second favorite scene from this episode would be Lizzie admitting to MG that she uses him when she’s low, but when she’s okay, she ignores him and puts him on standby. It’s not how you should treat a friend, but it’s a first step in fixing the problem and having a healthier friendship. Heck, it may even lead to MG getting what he wants, Lizzie falling for him.

It’ll be interesting to see where the last two episodes of the season will go, but I can’t wait to find out.

Other Thoughts:

  • Dorian and Emma leaving is heartbreaking because they’ve been there since the very beginning, but I also understand. They need to start a real-life together and then potentially come back when they’re ready.
  • I wonder if Raphael will mention seeing the necromancer in those photos he developed.

  • I want to know what is up with Rafael? Is the Necromancer controlling him? How? Who had him trapped in that trailer, bound and hooded? And where did he get that wound? Did I miss something?
