First Look at NBC’s ‘Council of Dads’
Family takes on a whole new meaning with NBC’s newest drama based on the book, Council of Dads, by Bruce Feiler.
Council of Dads centers on the Perry family as they deal with the possible passing of the patriarch. The oldest of five children, Luly, tries to keep her younger siblings — Theo, Charlotte, JJ, and baby Hope — and mom, Robin, from losing all semblance of normal in the wake of the tragic news.
Luly’s father set up a group of his closest friends to be there for the children and his wife in the wake of his demise. These three friends are dubbed the “Council of Dads,” and their purpose is to guide and teach the children through their lives.
These men — Anthony, Larry, and Oliver — take their roles as back-up dads very seriously. Their journey to help the Perry family heals them in return.
Family is more than just blood; sometimes we get the opportunity to choose who we bring into our lives. This warm, loving vibe is bound to grasp our attention and heal our very souls when the show premieres on March 24th.

Council of Dads Season 1 Episode 1, “Pilot,” is written by Joan Rater and Tony Phelan and directed by James Strong. Rater and Phelan also produced the show along with Jerry Bruckheimer, Jonathan Littman, and Kristie Ann Reid.
The show stars Michele Weaver (Dolly Parton’s Heartstrings) as Luly Perry, Sarah Wayne Callies (The Walking Dead) as Robin Perry, Clive Standen as Anthony, Michael O’Neill (Jack Ryan, Scandal, Grey’s Anatomy) as Larry, J. August Richards (Angel) as Oliver, and Tom Everett Scott (That Thing You Do) as the father.
