Supergirl ushers in the era of pants when it returns with Supergirl Season 5 Episode 1, “Event Horizon.” Kara is getting a new suit this season featuring pants instead of the skirt she’s had since Season 1, and the look gets its National City debut without delay on the premiere!
Pants aren’t the only big change for Kara and the gang this season though. Supergirl Season 4 Episode 22, “The Quest for Peace,” ended the fourth season with some big developments, and it seems “Event Horizon” will give us at least one more.
The end of season 4 marked the beginning for two new couples. Nia and Brainy finally got together after a season of awkward flirting and Alex kissed Kelly, giving Alex her first new love interest since Maggie.
Season 4 also revealed the new big bad for Season 5 and laid the groundwork for Supergirl’s involvement in this year’s big Arrowverse crossover, “Crisis on Infinite Earths,” which promises to dramatically alter the entire shared universe of the CW’s DC shows.
But perhaps the most shocking and disruptive change set up on “The Quest for Peace” was Lex Luthor telling Lena that Kara was Supergirl, which will have repercussions that we’ll see throughout Season 5.
And now after all that there is yet another big change to the Supergirl world: Catco has been sold, and the new owners are looking to shake things up.
What will that mean for Kara? Will it play into the already announced departure of Mechad Brooks later this season?
Whatever happens, Supergirl Season 5 is going to be a whole new world for our heroes (maybe even literally after “Crisis on Infinite Earths”) so get ready.
