Elliot and Kat search for Elliot’s mom in the 20s while Jacob adjusts to life back home on The Way Home Season 4 Episode 6, “Yes Sir, That’s My Baby.”

On The Way Home Season 4 Episode 5, “Don’t Cry Out Loud,” Elliot sees his mother in person for the first time since he was a child. Watching her from afar after he and Alice traveled to the 70s sparks something in him.

The episode ends with Elliot looking ready to go all in on the search for answers about Tessa. And perhaps more importantly, the effort to rescue her from the 20s.

The way “Don’t Cry Out Loud” ends, it seemed like maybe Elliot was planning to keep his research efforts secret from Kat. Luckily, that does not actually seem to be the case.

Rather than hiding his new obsession, Elliot brings Kat in to help, which leads the pair to travel back to the 20s to find Tessa. Or, at least more answers.

This is a bit of a role reversal for Elliot and Kat. Usually, it’s Kat who becomes entrenched in pond mysteries. That has been true until now, even regarding the search for Elliot’s mom this season.

But whatever it is that seeing his mom unleashed in Elliot, he is now the one who may need to be pulled back from his focus on the pond’s mysteries.

The question is, will Kat be able to take on Elliot’s normal role and keep perspective for him? Or, will the two of them feed off each other and get lost in the past?

Meanwhile, in the present, Jacob is finally back in Port Haven. However, after the big emotions of his dramatic return on “Don’t Cry Out Loud,” he will have to adjust again to being home.

That’s never been an easy thing for Jacob. Hopefully, though, after the scare with Del, he has some newfound clarity about where he belongs.
