Jared Padalecki to Headline and Executive Produce ‘Walker: Texas Ranger’ Reboot
The eyes of the ranger — or should we say, Jared Padalecki — are upon you.
While Supernatural may be ending, Jared Padalecki has wasted no time picking up a new project. According to Deadline, the actor is set to star in and executive-produce Walker, a reboot of Walker: Texas Ranger, the 1990s action/crime drama.

Walker will follow Cordell Walker (Padalecki), “a man finding his way back to his family while investigating crime in the state’s most elite unit. [The] broken widower and father of two returns home to Austin after being undercover for two years for a high profile case — only to discover that there’s even more work to be done at home.”
The reboot will explore themes of morality, family, and rediscovering our lost common ground.
It will also pair Padalecki’s character with a new partner, one of the only women Texas Rangers in history.

The pilot will be penned by Anne Ficke (Valor, Being Human) who will also executive-produce alongside Padalecki and Dan Lin (Lethal Weapon).
CBS TV Studios is currently shopping the series around with The CW, the current home of Supernatural, being the top contender to take the series on. However CBS, which aired the original eight seasons of Walker: Texas Ranger, is also a possible home.
CBS has had great success with similar reboots in recent years including Hawaii Five-0, MacGyver and Magnum P.I., all of which took the approach of reincarnating the original rather than turning it into a spinoff.

I love Jared Padalecki. I think anything he puts his mind to will be an absolute success. I look forward to seeing him in Walker. I hate to see Supernatural end, but being able to still see Jared is gonna be great. Now I’m just waiting on Jensen to make an announcement of his next project. Can’t do without those guys for too long. I’ll be suffering from withdrawal for sure.
