The Outpost Review: Because She’s Worth It (Season 2 Episode 6)
The Outpost Season 2 Episode 6, “Because She’s Worth It,” brings many secrets towards the surface and some of our most beloved characters could pay a hefty price as punishment for keeping them. To our delight, much drama ensues.
Last week’s episode had Talon directly disobeying Gwynn’s orders to return Zed and his demon into the portal. This of course was no surprise with Talon being the rebellious person she is. With that being said, it astonishes me how quickly her act of deception crumbles.
When Gwynn sees the carcasses of multiple livestock brought to her by the townspeople, she immediately jumps into action tracing all the steps back to Talon. I figure at this point, Talon would find her new friend a place to hide that is a tad less obvious.

Hiding in plain sight isn’t always the best method. Zed is practically at the door greeting the queen as she enters Talon’s domain. It is funny to me how instead of trying to make nice with Gwynn, Zed feels it is appropriate to threaten her.
I know Zed is new to the area, but seriously, how does he think this will end well? This makes me wonder if it is even possible for this guy to have any kind of “master plan.” He may live too much in the moment to be that many steps ahead — especially because he isn’t surrounded by a bunch of clueless idiots.
Talon did very little to hide her secret from Gwynn, and I’m sure Gwynn feels insulted by her act of treachery — I know I would. If my friend does something dishonest towards me, I prefer them to either be upfront about it or keep it hidden in the shadows. For Talon to do this so nonchalantly, it must feel like a slap in the face.
Gwynn tries her best to hold her poise but ultimately fails, letting her feelings out a bit too bluntly. I’m sure if I was in a similar situation, I wouldn’t handle it much better.

Gwynn lashes out at Talon with a verbal attack, causing even more damage to their already strained relationship. This leads to the discovery of Gwynn’s secret feelings about the Blackbloods.
I get it, Gwynn’s experience with the Blackbloods hasn’t always been the greatest. Although Talon has proven herself to be a trusted ally up to this point, Rebb was quite the opposite. I’m sure Gwynn is still shaken up at the attempt on her life — and this doesn’t even begin to cover the demons that the Blackbloods claim to be in control of.
Talon: I gave my word!
With so much currently at stake for Gwynn and The Outpost, it has to be difficult for her to trust anyone.
Still, this doesn’t give Gwynn any right to pass judgment on an entire race. Be leery by all means, but don’t shut down an entire population of people because of one bad seed. After all, they could prove to be your salvation in the upcoming war.
Ironically enough, the one person Gwynn does trust with all her secrets is Naya.
Poor manipulated Naya. All she wants to do is protect her family.
She isn’t a bad person per se. She is only acting in her family’s best interest. Can you tell me that you wouldn’t do the same?
You can see the regret in Naya’s eyes as she listens to Gywnn spill her plans on what is coming next. You can tell she feels guilty over her past crimes and is reluctant to go on with them further. She is bound to this double-life by duty to her family.

Like Gwynn and Zed proved earlier, we do stupid things when backed into a corner. Naya is definitely in that situation.
Of all the people to see something up with Naya, it is Tobin. Oh boy Tobin, I hope you aren’t barking up the very tree that you’ll be hung in.
I have to admit, I don’t like this setup at first. Why would Tobin so quickly come to question Naya’s loyalty? It seems a little too convenient for me.
After contemplating it for a few minutes, I realize it makes quite a bit of sense.
First off, a newcomer looks at things differently than people who have lived in the same town for most of their lives. A village full of pig farmers get used to the smell, but outsiders still need to plug their noses when passing through. The outsiders are the ones questioning the smell — not the ones who live with it every day.
The second reason why this works so well is that Tobin isn’t trusted himself.
For the first time since his arrival to The Outpost, Tobin is showing a somewhat likable side. We discover throughout the episode that he does have a heart and passion. That is if he isn’t flat-out lying with every word he speaks, but his conviction says otherwise.
With Tobin slowly chipping away at the barrier of distrust between Gwynn and him, it only makes sense that this new partnership would be put to the test sooner rather than later. Naya, the trusted confidant verses Tobin, the outsider with an obvious agenda. This battle seems rather one-sided if you ask me — and not in The Outpost’s favor.
This all further ties into the episode’s theme of secrets, showing us that all secrets do is build mistrust.

Truth be told, we all have a secret or two we are hiding from someone. It could be about anything from our feelings to our motives. It doesn’t matter what it is, only that you bring it to light before someone else does.
By revealing your truth, you build stronger bonds instead of breaking them down. Making yourself appear to be trustworthy — rather than a liar.
Garret returns in the last few minutes of the episode with some “stabbing” truth of his own. He gets to the “point” rather quickly. The whole time he appears trustworthy until right before the credits roll.
The damages done here may blow the lid off The Outpost for good, leaving everything and everyone in ruins. Hopefully, you can prevent the same thing from happening in your own life.
