The InBetween Review: Let Me In Your Window (Season 1 Episode 7)
There is so much happening on The InBetween Season 1 Episode 7, “Let Me In Your Window” and it moves as fast as Gabe Salonga’s fires, so let’s jump right into the flames so to speak.
First, may Sally rest in peace. It would’ve been refreshing for a TV show to choose a joyous twist over a sad one. But her death does free Damien up romantically if the serialized aspect of the show is to take root in the future.
Perhaps Sally brought Damien to Seattle for Cassie.
A show about a cop and a psychic medium in love solving crimes together definitely doesn’t have much competition in the procedural crime market right now.

There are three episodes left in the season. So, it’s hard not to wish Sally served a bigger purpose. She never spoke a word in the present.
We have to move on though because this episode has a mother basically making her child kill for her. I’m not professionally equipt to unpack that psychologically. But it’s really, really sick — in the bad, serious way.

This murder case works because there aren’t too many people or complicated dynamics to keep track of. Two divorcing couples are basically trying to dig at each other, and Vera gets the most revenge milage by making her son help her kill.
There is a twist, too — because when it’s clear Gabe is the pyromaniac the viewer doesn’t know whether Vera’s life was ever in danger.
The show’s weakness is sometimes making storylines more complicated than brains can handle in an hour. “Let Me In Your Window” packs a lot in, but there is enough space for viewers to become invested in the outcome for the characters.

I’m not quite sure why Will is out of the bar while Andie comes in, but by the end of the episode, it’s such a relief that she has the dark energy of Leon the stalker off of her.
There isn’t much to discuss there. Stalking is bad. Getting rid of the spirit who is still stalking you after you killed him in self-defense is good.
But the person who kills the spirit for good needs mentioning because it’s Ed Roven and, just, what the hell does he want by doing something nice for Cassie?

He’s totally ominous. A serial killer who has been harassing her essentially since the beginning of the series.
So, it’s mind-blowing that I’m starting to appreciate the character within The InBetween universe and not just objectively as a layered antagonist.
For the record, seriously killing someone is bad. Attempting to do it is worse. Killing one person is horrible, and serial killers are the worst. But within this fictional narrative, Cassie having a recurring problem is working.

It’s downright frightening that Ed does something nice. He’s just trying to control her and make her dependant on him.
Andie is a nice girl. She deserves to be stalker-free. I appreciate his favor, whatever the motive behind it. Hopefully, Cassie doesn’t owe a debt. But the finale is coming sooner than later and I’m getting a bad feeling.
