Shadowhunters Review: Alliance and All Good Things (Season 3 Episodes 21 and 22)
Lilith and Edom are defeated once and for all, Magnus and Alec get to have their dream wedding, Luke becomes a shadowhunter once again, and Clary faces the consequences of her actions after killing Jonathan on Shadowhunters Season 3 Episode 21 and 22, “Alliance” and “All Good Things.”
The series finale, in my eyes, is riveting and leaves a happy ending for everyone. Well, almost everyone. Magnus and Alec get their happy ever after, Izzy and Simon are together now, Maia has her own pack and is opening her own restaurant, but Clary gets stuck with having her memories erased for saving the downworld.
Clary is by far not my most favorite character, but her storyline is done dirty no matter the fact that she does get some of her memory back in the end. She may have been breaking the “rules” by making her own runes and taking advantage of the fact, but it doesn’t change that she is the one to defeat Jonathan when he’s essentially become the next “Devil.”

What makes Clary having her memories and runes taken away more heartbreaking is the fact that she didn’t see it important enough to ruin Magnus and Alec’s day in order to figure out a way to save her. Instead, she enjoys the last moments with the ones that she loves and accepts her fate instead of putting everyone in a hectic frenzy.
I don’t care that Clary gains the memory of WHO Jace is because she doesn’t have all her memories back, which means that she essentially has to become a shadowhunter all over again and make the connections with all of her friends out of scratch again. That’s not what her fate should be after risking her life for everyone and successfully vanquishing Jonathan.
Even though Clary does lose her memories of everyone, I’m so happy that Izzy and she become parabatai with one another because they have been through so much together. Izzy and Clary are sisters and the parabatai rune is only proof that their connection is tight.

Magnus and Alec’s wedding is so beautiful and it’s about damn time that it gets to happen. The love between the two of them is so strong and that’s the reason why Magnus has never been married in the many many years of his life. He hadn’t found the love of his life and he knows now that he has.
Maryse walking Magnus down the aisle to her son brings tears to my eyes because the character growth between the three of them is so strong and sweet. Maryse came from not accepting a shadowhunter and downworlder being together to having her own downworlder man and being such a loving mother figure to Magnus.
The only thing that could make Alec and Magnus’ future look better to me is if Madzie was involved because they would make a great pair of dads. It’s fitting that Alec is the inquisitor and Magnus is the High Warlock of Alicante now.

Izzy has been a badass leader who needed more appreciation for a hot minute, so it’s wonderful that she’s gotten the recognition she deserves and is the head of the institute now that Alec is no longer there. She’s a natural born leader and a fighter so this is what she was made for.
These last two episodes of the series as a whole are fantastic and do a wonderful job of ending the whole series. My favorite moment, besides the Malec wedding, is Clary and everyone else connecting to save Izzy’s life in Edom because everyone is ready to lay their life on the line to save her.
I’m going to miss these characters tremendously and hope that we eventually see a spinoff in the works because I know there are more stories to be told. A spinoff of Magnus and Alec’s life together would be absolute perfection.
