16 TV Couples We Want to See Tie the Knot

9-1-1, black-ish, Chicago Fire, Lists, Riverdale, Schitt's Creek, Shadowhunters, Stranger Things, Suits, Supergirl, Superstore, The 100, The Bold Type, The Good Place, The Resident, Wynonna Earp, Younger

Romantic relationships are one of the pillars of television shows that keep viewers coming back week after week. We get invested in the dynamics between two characters, the ways that they care for each other, and the emotions between them.

“Shippers” make up a huge portion of the audience for most television shows. Whether its drama, science fiction, or even a sitcom, the relationship between two people can be the driving force that creates audience investment in a good story.

Some pairings are so perfect for each other we see them being together forever. The story potential for relationships doesn’t end after two people get together; if anything it opens their narrative up to even more possibilities. When people get married they are making a vow to see each other through everything, the good and the bad, the easy and the difficult.

The story of two people who are committed to each other for better or worse is a rich narrative that we can’t get enough of.

Here are 16 TV couples we want to see tie the knot:

1. Kane and Abby (The 100)

the 100 season 5 episode 5 kabby

If you know me at all, you saw this one coming. Kane and Abby are the longest-running couple on The 100 and they share one of the strongest bonds on the entire show. Though The 100 isn’t exactly the type of show to slow down for a wedding, and for all intents and purposes Kane and Abby are essentially already husband and wife, seeing these two get married on the new planet would be ideal.

Kane: I could weather any storm as long as you were by my side.

Kane’s fate was left up in the air at the end of The 100 Season 5, but given how stubborn Abby can be, I don’t think she’s letting him go any time soon. Kane and Abby’s wedding would be a beautiful way to bring together all of the characters we’ve grown to love over the course of The 100‘s run, especially after many of them spent Season 5 scattered on opposing sides of yet another war.

Abby and Kane have proven over and over that they love each other more than anything; they’ve earned their right to a happy ending in a world that seems to have few to spare.

Dream wedding detail: Clarke braids flowers into Abby’s hair. Indra officiates the ceremony. Everyone is allowed to breathe and celebrate the fact that life is indeed about more than just surviving.

2. Maggie and Alex (Supergirl)

Sanvers fans were promised the biggest, gayest wedding in National City, and they still want it. Alex and Maggie bring out the best in each other and while they were together they had the healthiest romantic relationship we’ve seen so far on Supergirl

Maggie helped Alex to understand and accept herself and Alex offered Maggie an unconditional love that she’d never had before. When you find the real thing you know it, and Alex knew she and Maggie were meant to be. For now, matter where life takes these two, Sanvers will always be endgame.

Dream wedding detail: J’onn walks Alex down the aisle as he promised, and they get married on the beach in Midvale where Alex grew up.

3. Joyce and Hopper (Stranger Things)

stranger things season 2 episode 9

While we think the budding young romance between the Stranger Things kids is generally pretty adorable, Joyce and Hopper have a slow burn relationship that we are obsessed with. While Joyce and Hopper technically aren’t in a romantic relationship yet, we can definitely see what they do have going that direction, and we have high hopes for Season 3.

Some of the best romantic relationships are born out of deep and lasting friendships, we would love to see Joyce and Hopper take their relationship to the next level. I know Joyce and Hopper have a lot going on between doing their part to the Upside Down at bay and raising a handful of kids-turned-superheroes, but if anything that means they deserve to have a happy relationship with each other.

Their wedding would be a great way to show the Upside Down and the monsters within that they can’t take away what is protected by love. And sure, maybe it would also be super cool to see the whole gang fighting the Demogorgons that inevitably crash their reception.

Dream wedding detail: Will and Jonathan both walk Joyce down the aisle. Eleven is Hopper’s “best man.”

4. Waverly and Nicole (Wynonna Earp)

Waverly and Nicole essentially got engaged at the end of Season 3 of Wynonna Earp, now we just need Season 4 to return so we can see them actually get married.

Waverly: I do really, really love you.

Nicole: And I really, really hate this ring.

Waverly: Is that a yes?

Purgatory has taken plenty from the Earps and Waverly has had enough. She and Nicole have been through so much together, from revenants and vampires to cults and curses, and all of it has only made them stronger as a couple. They love each other unconditionally and that love deserves to be celebrated.

Dream wedding detail: Wynonna walks Waverly down the aisle and Nedly escorts Nicole. Nicole declares that there will be absolutely no supernatural shenanigans on their special day.

5. Alec and Magnus (Shadowhunters)

shadowhunters - malec

Shadowhunters may be ending but there’s still enough time for Alec and Magnus to get married. These two have come so far and made huge strides in their relationship over the last year. They’ve taken on supernatural beings and the complexities of being in a long-term relationship.

Magnus: I want to make the most of every moment.

Magnus was the reason that Alec didn’t get married on Season 1, so maybe he should be the reason he does get married on Season 3. If Shadowhunters has to go we still want to see Magnus and Alec live happily ever after.

Dream wedding detail: It’s a small ceremony with everyone they love, including’ Alec’s mom who supports them this time around.

6. Donna and Harvey (Suits)

suits darvey

After eight seasons of sexual and emotional tension, friendship and fights, complicated love, and bad timing, Donna and Harvey finally found themselves together on the Suits Season 8 finale

Suits will air its ninth and final season later this year, and it looks like fans will finally get the chance to see how these two work as a couple.

Dream wedding detail: Mike returns to be Harvey’s best man.

7. Janet and Jason (The Good Place)

the good place janet jason

Jason may not remember the life where he and Janet got married, but we haven’t forgotten and neither has Janet. If anything, Janet’s feelings for Jason have only grown stronger over the past two seasons of The Good Place. Because of that love, and her love for the other members of Team Cockroach, Janet’s entire capacity for emotion has evolved far beyond what she was ever intended to have.

Jason stuck by Janet when she was rebooting and he doesn’t care if she has all of her afterlife powers or not. Technically, Jason may have married Tahani on Earth, but his relationship with Janet has always meant more.

Jason may not be the brightest person on The Good Place, but he might be the one with the purest heart. Janet is still in love with Jason and now he knows about her feelings for him. We are rooting for these two; let them have a marriage that sticks!

8. Sutton and Richard (The Bold Type)

the bold type sutton richard

Sutton and Richard have always been right for each other but until now they weren’t really ready for each other. After breaking up at the end of The Bold Type Season 1, these two spent some necessary time apart that allowed Sutton to really find herself. She was able to get her feet under her and find the confidence she needed to succeed in her career.

Richard: It’s always been you.

The first time they were together their relationship couldn’t really breathe or grow because it had to be a secret. Now they are both at a place in their lives (and careers) where they can be together, and they can kiss in public.

The Bold Type Season 2 made us believe that Richard was going to propose to someone else, now that we know that’s not the case we’d love to see him propose to Sutton. I mean, he did come all the way to Paris just to tell her he’s still in love with her.

Dream wedding detail: Sutton designs her own custom wedding dress. Kat and Jane both walk her down the aisle.
