Renewals, Cancellations, and Schedule Changes
The CW has renewed The 100 for Season 7 ahead of the Season 6 premiere. Clarke and the rest of the Earthlings might want to get comfortable on their new planet. The 100 Season 5 ended with the survivors of an apocalyptic nuke going into cryosleep, only to be awoken years after they planned to find that Monty and Harper had found a new planet for them to inhabit. According to TV Line, showrunner Jason Rothenburg recently said, ” “nobody has any f–king clue where this season is going.” You can read more about the renewal here.

Also receiving a renewal from The CW is Roswell, New Mexico. According to TV Line, the new adaptation of Melinda Metz’s Roswell High books will get a second season. Roswell, New Mexico‘s ranked sixth amongst The CW’s sixteen dramas. It averaged a 0.28 demo rating and 1.06 million total viewers with an uptick after Tuesday night’s finale, delivering its biggest audience since February. You can read more about the renewal here.

The Good Fight has been renewed for Season 4 by CBS All Access. In a statement announcing the renewal, CBS All Access original content EVP Julie McNamara said, “The Good Fight is in the middle of an incredible third season and continues to be a flagship original series for the service. Its visionary creators Robert and Michelle King and the extraordinary cast continue to explore the cultural climate with insight, humor, and courage, and we can’t wait to see where these indelible characters go next.”

Netflix has cancelled Santa Clarita Diet after three seasons. The zombie satire starring Drew Barrymore and Timothy Olyphant debuted in 2017 with mixed reviews, but according to Vulture, the streamer said, “The world had never known a ‘zom-com’ until Santa Clarita Diet, and we’re indebted to creator Victor Fresco for bringing this idea to Netflix.” This is the sixth show the streamer has cancelled this year with Santa Clarita Diet joining One Day at a Time, Jessica Jones, Travelers, Punisher and Friends from College.

NBC has pulled Blindspot from the May schedule. Beginning on Friday, April 26th, The Blacklist moved to the 8pm timeslot for a two-hour episode and will remain in the earlier slot until its finale on May 17th. The following week Blindspot will return with its antepenultimate episode on May 24th and follow with a two-hour finale on May 31st. TV Line reports that this mini-hiatus means that Blindspot will not air any episodes during May Sweeps and makes the prospects of renewal murky.

Casting News
Shannen Doherty will be joining the Beverly Hills 90210 event series this summer! Doherty originally left after the original incarnation’s fourth season, but later joined Darren Star’s sequel series, 90210. There is speculation about how the two universes will interact since the Fox revival isn’t really a sequel but rather a meta-sequel starring the cast as themselves trying to get a Beverly Hills 90210 sequel on the air. Vulture speculates that maybe the two series exist in different universes and therefore could mean two Brenda Walshes and two Shannen Dohertys.
Jussie Smollett has exited Empire, for now. The final two episodes of Empire Season 5 but now that the charges have been dropped Deadline reports that two of Taraji P Hensen and Terrence Howard are asking that he brought back for Empire Season 6.

Series Orders
Amy Sherman-Palladino and Daniel Palladino are tapping the modern art scenes for their next Amazon series. According to The Hollywood Reporter that the pair are developing the nonfiction book Ninth Street Women by Mary Gabriel as part of their overall deal with Amazon. Published in 2018, the book details the lives of Lee Krasner, Elaine de Kooning, Grace Hartigan, Joan Mitchell and Helen Frankenthaler who dared to enter the male-dominated modern art world as abstract painters, not muses. Gabriel, a Pulitzer Prize and National Book Award finalist, will serve as consulting producer on the project.
A Hugh Laurie-led space satire has found a home at HBO. The series is called Avenue 5 and is created by Armando Iannucci from Veep. TV Line reports that the series logline describes it as “[a] space tourism comedy set 40 years in the future when the solar system is everyone’s oyster. With Hugh Laurie as the Captain, nothing can go wrong?”
