Shadowhunters Review: Stay With Me (Season 3 Episode 16)
Magnus makes a tough decision that revolves around his life, Jonathan makes plans to attack Lilith at the same time Clary is planning on summoning her. Meanwhile, Cain shows a moment of weakness when helping Simon on Shadowhunters Season 3 Episode 16, “Stay With Me.”
If there’s any kind of doubt that Alec is genuinely in love with Magnus he’s blown it all away with his actions in this episode. Fighting, and eventually breaking down too, Lorenzo to make sure that he helps Magnus, so he no longer has to fear for his life is brave of him as the head of the New York Institute.
I am ecstatic beyond words that Alec wants to marry Magnus and make him the man of his life forever, but I don’t think that Magnus will accept. Magnus doesn’t want to live a life as a mortal, no matter how much he loves Alec, after being alive as a warlock for as long he has. I think he will accept but eventually, regret the decision.

HARRY SHUM JR., MATTHEW DADDARIO, SOPHIA WALKER
I see Magnus becoming even more depressed than before after this because he finally had one of the most essential things in his life back. Now, magic is the thing that’s going to kill him for good, so he can’t risk using it again.
Alec understands a bit about what Magnus is going through, but in the end, he doesn’t honestly know. He hasn’t been around as long as Magnus has or had something completely consume his entire life so much he’d want to die without it. Well, until he met Magnus, he had never felt that.
I want to hope that Alec pushing for Magnus to willingly get rid of his powers won’t affect anything in their relationship, but I think that he’ll hold some resentment for a little bit. I don’t want this to be the end possibly, but Magnus’ whole life is changed forever now.

ALBERTO ROSENDE, EMERAUDE TOUBIA
After all of the enticing and buttering up to Cain that Izzy and Simon have to do it’s downright ridiculous that he’s going to fall for Lilith’s lies that she’ll bring Abel back. If Lilith has Abel at her disposal to protect her from Jonathan and others, she’s basically unstoppable.
If Clary, Jace, and Simon don’t try to get the help of the Seelie queen, I’m not sure what much else they can do because with the mark of Cain on Cain there’s nothing that can stop them. Even with the Seelie queen on their side Jace and Clary would have to try and come up with a flawless plan and execute it flawlessly for it to work.
If Jonathan wanted to kill Lilith and was truly not working with her, he should have offered helping to take her down to prove he’s changed. It might not have worked for Jace and Alec, but if it had things could have gone differently considering Jonathan almost finished the plan and stabbed Lilith.

LUKE BAINES, ANNA HOPKINS
Luke has some sort of self-pity that is eating him alive, and it’s the train that he’s riding all the way to his downfall until the Praetor Lupus show up and release him from prison. With as passionate as Luke has been about everyone leaving him to die in jail I don’t think he’ll do things willingly for the leader of the Praetor.
Although I think there will be pushback from Luke, I’m happy that he’s now out of jail because taking the blame for that massacre is insane and he deserves to see the light of day.
