The Magicians Review: Lost, Found, F*cked (Season 4 Episode 2)

Reviews, The Magicians

Margo is transported to Fillory without any magic, Marina continues to work her ways around the spell, and Alice finds her way to magic on The Magicians Season 4 Episode 2, “Lost, Found, Fucked.”

This episode is an absolute trip and ends with our favorite characters returning to themselves at the end. I’m happy, but a tad bit disappointed because the whole premise of Season 4 was that they didn’t know who they are and they had to fight their way through it. Well, it’s only episode 2, and that’s already over.

After all of the discoveries by Margo, Marina, and Julia it would’ve been nice to get to see them work at it for longer than barely an episode. The potential storyline of Dean Fogg having to be Marina’s father is something that I think should’ve played out more, even though I don’t approve of the whitewashing.

Getting to watch Margo run Fillory with absolutely no clue what’s going on half the time would’ve been interesting to see. But, with that being said, I’m ecstatic to see how the crew is going to go about fighting The Monster and Irene.

I’m a little terrified at what’s going to come next for Kady, Trevor, Penny, and Quentin because they’ve only had their true selves back for a short moment and now The Monster is confronting them. It seems fitting with Quentin’s character that he’s the one who’s had to do the horrible things even when glamored.

Quentin asking if he can have his Eliot back is so soft because he misses him so much and wants the monster gone, but can’t act as if he wants the monster to leave.

Alice is one of the smartest magicians, and there’s nothing that’s going to stop her from solving her problems. Scooping up the beetle was an intelligent decision for Alice to do at the moment because it might’ve just found her a way out.

Alice is going to have to make sure that the broken valve in her room isn’t super noticeable because The Librarian is going to flip. But, I wish that Santa had told Alice about the magic flowing through the tubes sooner than her faking a suicide attempt.

When Alice faked her attempt to try something, it was desperate and messy but had she known about the magic sooner she could’ve come up with a plan before faking it. Now, the cockroach is gone, and she has no way to control something to see outside of her room.

I wonder how much magic Alice could absorb from keeping her arm in there at all times whenever there’s nobody in her room. Would it be enough for her to try and fight her way to that chimney with ole saint nick?

This season is already starting brilliant and unforeseeable. I can’t wait to see what the next episode has in store.

Other Thoughts:

  • Now that Margo is back on earth she can’t get her birthright box from Lord Fresh.
  • I hope we see our Penny show up sometime soon.
