26 Fantastic Sci-fi, Fantasy, and Horror TV Shows from 2018
26 Fantastic Sci-fi, Fantasy, and Horror Shows from 2018 (continued):
11. Timeless

Fans of the time travel show got to enjoy the second season after the show was saved from cancellation in 2018.
Timeless returned to quickly reunite Team Lifeboat and continue their time traveling adventures. Although this season Rittenhouse was back and more insidious than ever.
Throughout ten episodes, the writers told the story of the shadow organization that wanted to rewrite history on their own terms. To do so, they placed sleeper agents throughout the past with missions that the team had to foil. Sometimes, with the help of Season 1 baddie, Garcia Flynn.
12. Chilling Adventures of Sabrina

Everyone’s favorite half-witch/half-mortal, Sabrina returned to our screens in 2018.
Chilling Adventures of Sabrina departed from the 90s sitcom in a big way. Tonally, it’s more of an occult horror and features nods to classic horror movies that will delight longtime fans of the genre without feeling old and tired.
The first ten episodes premiered in 2018, but they spun a tale so well paced that even though Chilling Adventures of Sabrina Season 1 Episode 10, “Chapter 10: The Witching Hour,” may have served as a season finale of sorts, there are still plenty of stories to tell.
13. The Magicians

A world without magic in a show about magic? If there was one show that could have pulled this off it is Syfy’s The Magicians. Let me tell you they definitely pulled it off!
Since there was no magic, this season focused on the quest to bring it back.
Our main group was sent on a quest to recover 8 keys and bring back magic once more. The quest lead us to the library, to the mouth of a whale, to two of our favorites growing old together in a stunningly beautiful episode, and to a musical episode featuring Queen and David Bowie’s Under Pressure, among many more.
The quests gave each cast member a chance to truly shine. We even got to see wonderful new dynamics like Fen and Julia as they were taken on a quest of their own to help enslaved fairies. This season of The Magicians truly had it all.
14. Titans

When the first trailer for Titans dropped a lot of people blew it off, disappointed by how ridiculous it looked. However, Titans was the first show to premiere on DC Universe and will hit Netflix internationally in January. What a way to kick things off!
Television is filled to the brim with superhero shows that it takes something truly special to wow us — and yet Titans is that show. As someone who has seen every superhero and comic book show out there from Fox to The CW and everything in between, we can say Titans is the best of them.
The fact that it’s not on a network gives this show a lot more freedom and it shows. The acting is phenomenal and the character dynamics are on point. The lighting could use some work (I know you’re a serious superhero show but we need to be able to see what’s going on).
While it is not a perfect show, it’s definitely among the best we’ve seen in 2018. Titans has already been renewed so there is no need to fret over that, which is a relief.
15. The Gifted

The Gifted had a slow start during Season 1 and it didn’t really know what it wanted to be.
Well, that’s not the case anymore. The Gifted is probably one of the best Marvel television shows we’ve had the pleasure to watch. Unlike other shows, it’s not afraid to callback to the things that allowed the show to exist. In this case, that’s the X-men.
Although it is a show that focuses on mutant powers it is wildly realistic and all the characters are fleshed out (well most of them). Characters you didn’t care about in the first season are now characters you worry about.
Season 2 also gave us that magnificent episode where Lorna/Polaris truly embraces her father’s legacy and puts on her famous helmet from the comics.
Only half of the second season is out but we’re sure The Gifted is going to continue kicking ass when it comes back from hiatus.
16. Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D.

Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. has been having a great year — renewed for both Season 6 and 7, many fans thought that the show wouldn’t even survive past this last season.
However, the showrunners gave us another action-packed season in space! It was quite the journey as the team found themselves in a future where Earth was destroyed, and they’re left to try and fix it.
While the season wasn’t as great as past arcs, it did continue its signature action and enviable VFX sequences that rivaled that of shows like Supergirl.
17. Lucifer

Lucifer Season 3 had its shortcomings, we’re all aware of those. Most specifically anything that related to Tom Welling’s Pierce. But it was still one of the top shows of 2018. It was an important season for all of the characters and it truly embraced the idea of “identity”.
Things got a bit more mystical with the addition of the wings dilemma but it ended up working out in the show’s favor. While the wings in their first few appearances did not look as great, they definitely made up for it in the finale.
This season we were treated to some of the best episodes viewers had ever seen. After all the finale, “A Devil of my Word,” holds the top spot in IMDB’s Top Rated television episodes, beating Game of Thrones Season 6 Episode 9, “Battle of the Bastards.”
Lucifer, of course, ended on a cliffhanger which promises to bring new drama in 2019 at its new home on Netflix.
18. Travelers

Just in time to make this list, Travelers Season 3 dropped on Netflix about a week ago.
Season 2 left off with every Traveler’s significant other finding out that their loved one was actually inhabited by a person from the future. The revelation didn’t go over so well.
During Season 3, Travelers continues to explore the idea of destiny and how the present shapes the future in exciting new ways.
19. Manifest

Now on its midseason hiatus, Manifest has left us with more questions than answers, but it still remains entertaining.
Ben and Michaela Stone, two survivors of a mysterious flight that took off in 2013 and somehow landed in 2018 — are investigating this mysterious occurrence. Nobody knows how or why the plane traveled through time, and they’re left to scrape up the clues.
We can’t get enough of this fate driven mystery.
20. Arrow

After a rough end to Season 6, Arrow has bounced back in a solid way during Season 7. Even in the face of continued suffering, it’s been heartening to keep seeing Oliver’s growth as a hero through how he’s reacted to every obstacle he’s faced throughout 2018.
It may be a darker show relative to all of the others in the Arrowverse, but there’s still a hint of inspiring light along the way as our hero and those closest to him continue down their path.
