42 Best Moments from The 100 Season 5
42 Best Moments from The 100 Season 5 (continued):
10. Kane Takes Abby’s Place in the Arena

The 100 Season 5 Episode 4, “Pandora’s Box,” has to have one of the best cold-opens of the entire series as we see the resolution of the cliffhanger from two episodes prior with Kane being thrown into the ring and fighting to “be the last,” as Abby screams, locked away, that it was her crime not his, and Octavia stares down stoically and sentences him to fight again.
Kane refuses to fight again but as his friend, Indra gives him time with Abby before he goes into the second fight. This moment is tragic, beautiful, and heartbreaking all at once, as Kane and Abby try to save each other once more in a world that’s shown them there isn’t much worth saving anymore.
Indra: He knew you’d confess to try and save him. The only way to save you both is for him to win.
Life in the bunker took two pragmatic, hopeful people and pushed them past their breaking points. Humanity can only live in darkness so long before it becomes the darkness; the cycle of death and destruction tears good people apart from the inside out. Kane and Abby held onto their love for each other, even when it was all they had left.
9. Bellamy Inspires Madi

When it comes to motivational speeches, Bellamy is pretty much the uncontested king on The 100 and this is one of his best.
Bellamy: We’ve been here before Madi, we were the criminals, the hundred. We landed in someone else’s home and we went to war. You can execute them because they’re the enemy, or you can break the cycle.
Bellamy has had one of the best character arcs on The 100 and this moment shows just how much he’s learned since he was in Madi’s shoes. It’s easy to believe the worst in people and to give into the worst parts of yourself: vengeance, anger, destruction.
But breaking the cycle means holding yourself and the rest of humanity to the best of what makes us human: forgiveness, compassion, and love.
8. Abby Goes Through Detox

Abby’s addiction arc had its fair share of storytelling mishaps this season, as her perspective got lost in the shuffle. But her detox remained her choice, and Paige Turco delivered an Emmy worthy performance as Abby ran the gamut of both physical and emotional extremes in the process of getting clean.
This is a crucial turning point in Abby’s journey this season as she follows through on every promise she made to quit.
Clarke: How long has this been going on?
Abby: Too long.
Abby comes through the worst of it and is finally able to see the hope that has always been a cornerstone of her character once more. If The 100 continues to tell this storyline with the care and attention such a subject deserves, we’ll get to see Abby in a state of recovery on Season 6 as she works to stay clean, save Kane, and face the new planet with Clarke.
7. The Entire Echo/Clarke/Madi Conversation

Echo and Clarke haven’t exactly been the best of friends, but they have a hell of a lot in common as far as the way they make decisions and how fiercely protective they are over the people that they care about. Their commonalities leave room for them to understand each other in spite of having been at odds most of the time they’ve known each other.
Madi: Life shoulld be about more than just surviving.
Madi becomes the bridge between both Echo and Clarke, and Clarke and her past, pointing them back to the reasons that life is worth surviving in the first place. With the knowledge and compassion of Lexa inside the flame, Madi helps Clarke to see that fighting to keep her safe doesn’t have to mean sacrificing everyone else she loves.
This moment between all of these powerful women embracing their capacity for both incredible power and incredible emotion is one of the best scenes of the series.
6. The Entire First Half of ‘Eden’

If you’ve ever wondered if an impressive ensemble show could spend almost an entire episode with just it’s lead actress and still have an incredible episode, look no further than The 100 Season 5 Episode1, “Eden.”
Eliza Taylor commands the small screen as Clarke Griffin in pure survivalist mode, seemingly the only person left on the face of the Earth.
Clarke: I’m done! Do you hear me? I’ve lost everything! I lost my friends, my father, my mother! I’ve got nothing left!
Clarke is brought to her absolute lowest point before she finds sanctuary in Eden, and in Madi, the absolute spitfire that saved Clarke’s life and stole our hearts.
5. Octavia Sacrifices Herself but Spacekru Saves the Day

Octavia did a lot more bad things than good on The 100 Season 5, but this moment of sacrifice for the family that she broke is one of the good ones.
Octavia: I may never be able to fix what I broke, but I can save you.
Her heroic sacrifice would have made a fitting end to her story, but thanks to Spacekru it doesn’t have to be the end. Bellamy’s family came for him (and anyone else they could save) even when Wonkru didn’t come back for Octavia, because family looks out for each other.
The sheer heroism of this moment makes it feel like anything is possible and everyone can live happily ever after as The 100 Season 5 Episode 12, “Damocles — Part One” ends on a high note.
4. Kane and Abby Can’t Live Without Each Other

This is hands down one of the most romantic moments on the entirety of The 100 which earns it a top spot on this list too. Kane and Abby’s relationship has been through so much, and each tribulation that they’ve faced together has only made them that much stronger in their love for each other.
After fighting for a month and most of this episode, Kane and Abby finally get to the truth of the matter, which is that they value each other’s lives above everyone else’s.
Kane: How could you ever think that I would be able to carry you outside and shut the door? Abby, I’m sorry, but I’m not that strong, I would do the same thing a thousand times. Did you ever regret opening the door to save me?
Abby: No.
The poetry spilling from Kane’s lips is akin to wedding vows and the emotion that pours from Abby’s face is enough to make your heart skip a beat, the only thing that could’ve made it better is if they’d gotten to follow through on that kiss.
3. Bellamy and Madi Rescue Clarke

The post time jump reunions were some of the most highly anticipated moments of The 100 Season 5, Clarke’s and Bellamy’s most of all. And boy does this moment come through. In a scene straight out of fans wildest dreams, Spacekru comes across Madi first. She knows exactly who they are and she delivers some pretty life-changing news upon their first meeting.
Madi: Bellamy? Clarke knew you would come!
Bellamy: Clarke’s alive?!
Clarke is in hot water with the new Season 5 big bad, but Bellamy rolls up like a knight in shining headlights, one year late with an actual cup of coffee, ready to save the long-lost princess. Bellamy and Clarke have gone through a lot, both together and apart; they don’t always see eye to eye, but they make a hell of a team and yeah, they’re pretty important to each other.
2. Monty and Harper’s Happily Ever After

Monty and Harper found The 100‘s very first happy ending when they decide to stay out of cryo and build a life together where they always found the most peace, in space. When they make the choice to stay behind they have every intention of seeing their friends again, but that isn’t the case.
When it becomes clear that Earth isn’t coming back, Monty and Harper use the rest of their happily ever after to make sure that the rest of humanity also gets the chance to find their own.
They had a son, they lived long, full, happy lives, and they saved the human race.
Harper: Take care of our boy.
Jordan will carry on their legacy (and Jasper’s) and Monty and Harper will forever be a beacon of light and goodness for The 100.
1. Clarke, Bellamy, and Jordan See the New Planet

The revelation that our heroes are facing life on an entirely new planet, in a solar system we’ve never seen before, changes everything for The 100. Each time jump has given the show a chance to tell a whole new story while staying true to the characters that we know and love.
Monty: Can you see it? Is it beautiful? It is in my dreams. I hope we do better there, I hope Jasper was wrong and we aren’t the problem. I hope your lives there will be as happy as mine has been. Be the good guys. May we meet again.
This new planet is a new beginning both for the show itself and for our heroes who just survived their toughest season yet. The writers and our beloved characters have the chance to do exactly as Monty asked in his final words. Do better. Be the good guys.
The 100 somehow manages to make me even more excited for each new season and this return to hard science fiction and a recentering of the show’s core human values promise another incredible journey to come.

All Commander Madi/Lexa Clarke moments #1!!!
Bellarke 5×03 and 5×04 stuff, and the second half of 5×13. And Bellamy poisoning Octavia in 5×08 and fighting in the pit with Indra. Indra in general was awesome. Enjoyed Clarke in the first half of the season. Couldn’t pinpoint storylines for Murphy or Raven, but I always love Murphy. Not totally feeling Raven/Shaw. Becho needs to just END, as does that damn flame storyline.
Okay but MURPHY AND RAVEN PLAY SOCCER
I’m shocked that Octavia bowing to Madi isn’t #1. Holy cow, what a moment.
