42 Best Moments from The 100 Season 5 (continued):

31. Harper and Monty Choose to Live

31 the 100 season 5 episode 8

Monty and Harper didn’t have a ton to do during the majority of The 100 Season 5, but every moment they shared was absolute perfection. This moment essentially foreshadows the choice they make in the season finale to stay behind and show everyone how to live.

With their peaceful hearts and pure intentions, these two have laid out the blueprints for how the rest of humanity can live happily ever after. Now, I dare you to re-watch this scene without crying.

30. Kane and Diyoza Plan a Village for the Valley

30 the 100 season 5 episode 8

Kane and Diyoza’s vision for Eden has to be one of the most beautiful dreams to never come true.

Kane: That’s where the trading post will be, and next to it there’ll be a farm, and a workshop, and a mill. And a real medical center for Abby. To the South will be homes, dug out of the ground to preserve the trees. And at the center, there’ll be a well, a place for people to gather, talk, debate ideas.

Diyoza: And a school, with a playground where kids can blow off steam and bitch about their teachers. And kiss under the bleachers.

Both Kane’s idealism and Diyoza’s pragmatism are crucial to finding peace on The 100. Even though they’ll never get to build that village, their ability to see and fight for a positive future should come in handy in creating a peaceful life for their people on the new planet.

29. Bellamy and Echo’s Relationship is Revealed

29 the 100 season 5 episode 1

Love it or hate it, the revelation that Bellamy and Echo are in a romantic relationship (and had been for 3 years on the ring) inspired deeply emotional reactions throughout the audience. And isn’t that what the best of television does?

I personally love Bellamy and Echo together and this scene exemplifies why. Bellamy lightens the mood when Echo gets caught up in the darkness of her past, and Echo gently and easily calms Bellamy’s worries and fears. They complement each other in a beautiful way that fans of this relationship really enjoy.

Whether you’d been shipping Becho in previous seasons or adamantly wishing it wouldn’t happen, this moment is a Season Premiere jaw-dropper for sure.

28. Madi Wakes Up as Heda

28 the 100 season 5 episode 9

After Madi takes the flame, it takes her longer than expected to wake up and each moment she spends unconscious worries Clarke and the audience further. But the second Madi awakens she uses knowledge from the flame, from Lexa to save both she and Clarke.

Madi: You believed in her, now believe in me.

Madi commanding with ease sends chills through the audience and solidifies Clarke’s terror over Madi being in danger among Wonkru and around Octavia.

27. Monty Carries Murphy

27.1 the 100 season 5 episode 13 27.2 the 100 season 5 episode 13

As the time until the weaponized hithylodium destroys Eden ticks down, Monty calls deja-vu back to the last time they were racing against the clock not to be consumed in a fiery death. Last time he was Monty injured and Murphy performing heroics to make sure that they all made it out alive.

These two have had their fair share of differences, and they bicker more than an old married couple, but when it comes right down to it they love each other like family. They’re brothers and watching Monty save Murphy in the same way he saved him 6 years prior still brings tears to my eyes.

26. Bellamy and Echo Go Full Battle Couple

26 the 100 season 5 episode 13

I could watch about a million hours of these two just kicking ass and taking names. Both Bellamy and Echo have always been skilled in battle but watching them fight together is even better.

Echo: I’ll be right behind you. If you miss I’ll never let you live it down.

Bellamy: I won’t miss.

There’s a sense of ease and a healthy competitive banter to the way they talk and move together in this scene; they bring a lightness to the danger of the moment as they aim to impress each other while saving everyone they love. Maybe on their next double date with Murphy and Emori, there’ll be less shooting.

25. Everyone Makes It Onto the Ship

15 the 100 season 5 episode 13

One of the best differences between the Season 5 finale and the Season 4 finale is that this time no one gets left behind. Our heroes still wait out the clock was their friends rush to the ship, but this time, somehow, everyone makes it before that door closes.

Raven: Just once I’d like to take off from a planet that wasn’t on fire.

Bellamy and Clarke share a moment of understanding as he takes in what Madi told him about her radio calls, and she sees what leaving her behind six years ago cost him. But one by one everyone they love makes it to the ship just in the nick of time in a moment of triumphant relief halfway through the episode.

24. Octavia Saves Abby and Kane

24 the 100 season 5 episode 13

The back half of The 100 Season 5 set Octavia and Abby up as opposite sides of the same coin in a dynamic that I find absolutely fascinating. This moment marks a turning point for these women both in their individual journeys and in their relationship with each other.

Both Abby and Octavia sacrificed their own humanity in order to make sure their people survived. Octavia channeled her guilt into becoming Blodreina, and Abby internalized hers into self-destruction through addiction.

But here they both choose to be better than who they were inside the bunker. Abby has escaped her addiction, no longer allowing her guilt to control or destroy her as she fights to keep Kane (and her hope) alive, while Octavia allows Blodreina to fall away and chooses to save Abby and Kane rather than striking them down as traitors.

I really hope The 100 Season 6 continues to explore this relationship because I can’t get enough of it.

23. Monty Reads Jasper’s Suicide Note

23 – the 100 season 5 episode 7

Jasper’s suicide is one of the most tragic deaths to ever happen on The 100 and it’s important that the show remembers him beyond that moment. In The 100 Season 5 Episode 1, “Eden,” Clarke comes across the note Jasper wrote for Monty at the beginning of Season 4, but the content of the note isn’t revealed until Clarke finally delivers the note to Monty in Episode 7 “Acceptable Losses.”

Monty: If a war is the only way to have the last survivable land on Earth then maybe we don’t deserve it.

Jasper’s memory lives on through his friends and everything Monty does on The 100 Season 5 is to make a world where Jasper’s words aren’t true and the cycle of death and destruction can end.

22. Bellamy Poisons Octavia

22 the 100 season 5 episode 8

Bellamy poisoning the person he loves most in the world is not something I ever expected to see on The 100 but this show is full of surprises. This scene is heartbreaking, jaw-dropping, and yet nostalgic and tender all at once.

Bellamy: My sister, my responsibility.

This is another epic moment on The 100 Season 5 that is perfectly acted by everyone involved. Bob Morley portrays the sheer horror at the necessity of Bellamy’s actions with a clear devastation and determination etched across his face as he silences Octavia while she falls into a coma.

Meanwhile, Marie Avgeropolous delivers the utter betrayal Octavia feels when she realizes that Bellamy has poisoned her as each breath becomes more difficult than the last.

21. Bellamy Spars with Octavia

21 the 100 season 5 episode 6

This sparring match works as a proxy for one of the biggest debates of Season 5 and The 100 in general. Do people deserve to be forgiven, and then at what point is forgiveness deserved or earned? Bellamy and Octavia are arguing about Echo, a character that fans either love or hate.

You’d be pretty hard pressed to find a character on The 100 whose hands aren’t soaked in blood from protecting the people that they love, whether it be a clan they’re loyal to or their closest family. Bellamy’s speech to Octavia in this scene can be applied to just about everyone on the show. It’s also pretty good advice for anyone watching the show as well.

  • Bellarke 5×03 and 5×04 stuff, and the second half of 5×13. And Bellamy poisoning Octavia in 5×08 and fighting in the pit with Indra. Indra in general was awesome. Enjoyed Clarke in the first half of the season. Couldn’t pinpoint storylines for Murphy or Raven, but I always love Murphy. Not totally feeling Raven/Shaw. Becho needs to just END, as does that damn flame storyline.
