Kat Barrell on Wayhaught, Mama Earp, and ‘Wynonna Earp’ Season 3 [Video]
We sat down with Kat Barrell at San Diego Comic-Con during a roundtable interview, where she shared lots of exciting teases for Wynonna Earp Season 3. We got the scoop on Haught’s backstory, what’s next for Wayhaught, and more.
Barrell teased that fans will get to see a lot of Nicole Haught’s backstory this season.
“She’s more connected to Purgatory than I think she originally thought,” Barrell said. “It might not be such a coincidence that she’s there after all.”
“We get a ton of her backstory, how she came to Purgatory, why she came to Purgatory, and her family situation and the type of environment she was raised in, which was really surprising for me. It’s not what I was expecting from the character,” Barrell continued.
We also learned that Haught will get to spend some time getting to know Mama Earp on Wynonna Earp Season 3.
“If you’re dating someone you’re always worried about how their parents are going to react to you, [but] I think she definitely rises to the challenge.”
Wayhaught is stronger than ever according to Barrell as they move forward in Season 3 after having overcome so many obstacles together during the previous season.
“We see a couple at the beginning of Season 3 in a really solid place,” said Barrell.
She also teased that we will get to see Nicole bonding more with Wynonna this season.
“There are some really fun Wyn-Haught dynamics coming up,” she said. “They’re cut from very different cloths, but they do really love each other and very much trust each other.”
