Cloak & Dagger Review: Lotus Eaters (Season 1 Episode 7)
Tandy and Tyrone’s relationship is put to the test when they use their powers together for the first time on Cloak & Dagger Season 1 Episode 7, “Lotus Eaters.”
I’m going to start by saying I feel like this episode is the best of the season. The character progression and storyline development is astounding and puts a fun new twist on the back half of the season.
Tandy and Tyrone’s relationship is cute and I like that even though Tandy still acts the same as she does with everyone else, she can break down that barrier for him like she can’t others.

AUBREY JOSEPH
Tandy hearing her father’s voice after eight years makes her completely shell-shocked and in a trance because she believes that it’s real. It’s understandable for Tandy to think that her father on the phone could be real considering they don’t know how their powers work and Ivan Hess is real.
I get being completely mesmerized by the idea of just laying around and talking to someone you miss, but at the moment Tandy is forgetting the mission. While she’s sitting on the phone Tyrone is trying to save Ivan by getting to the valves, and risking his life with the crazed workers surrounding the area.
It’s a good thing that in the dream state both Tandy and Tyrone’s powers can work on will. Tandy would still be okay, but Tyrone hasn’t practiced as much, so it comes in handy.

OLIVIA HOLT
I hope that the dream state is something the show looks into further because I find it interesting that Tyrone leaves for a total of five minutes and it’s been a long time for Tandy. She’s lost all memory of Tyrone and all she knows is that her father is on that phone and she must answer it.
It’s wild that she’s lost so much of herself that she’s willing to kill Tyrone over a phone. But, the moment she realizes that her father on the phone is just an imagination of Ivan’s she snaps out of it. That’s when she realizes how to get Ivan to remember himself.
Using Mina and the cookie she baked him as a reminder is genius and gets the job done. I wish that Ivan would remember Tandy and Tyrone afterward, but at least they get him out of his catatonic state and reunite him with his daughter.

I know that Tandy wants nothing more than to have her father back, but I think at the moment instead of feeling sorrow she feels a little bit of happiness.
Even though she can no longer talk to her father she just gave Mina her father back after eight years and she knows how good of a feeling that is. She did a good thing and can be proud of herself.
The ending scene is the most adorable thing that’s happened all season. Tyrone calling Tandy so he can play the recording of his brother out loud while not being alone is sweet. He knows that Tandy will know exactly what he is feeling and she goes along with it, not losing her touch as she roasts him a little bit.

With Ivan out of his catatonic state, there’s no telling where the end of the season could go, but I’m ecstatic to find out!
Other Thoughts:
- I wonder if the blast only affected Ivan in this way or if there could be powers he doesn’t know he has yet.
- Now that Ivan is active I hope we see Mina and Tandy talking to him about Nathan.
- I’m worried for what Connors could be planning for Tyrone.
