Take Two Review: Ex’s and Oh’s (Season 1 Episode 4)

On Take Two Season 1 Episode 4, “Ex’s and Oh’s,”  Sam is forced to help her ex-fiancé recover his stolen computer in order to keep her already-fragile reputation from being completely ruined.

Sam is working so hard to get her life back to together. She’s completed rehab and gotten a job. She’s made new friends and is moving on with her life. What’s the last thing she needs right now? A sex tape scandal!

“Ex’s and Oh’s” gives us our first insight into Sam’s old life prior to her career-ending, mega-meltdown.

As this episode shows us, Sam was told by a reporter live on the red carpet that her fiancé, Dylan, was cheating on her. The guy doesn’t even try to deny it or make up an excuse. He just breaks up with her and storms off. Did I mention this was all on live TV?

Poor Sam! The shot of her just standing there in shock is heartbreaking.

Everyone in the office wants to help Sam and get Dylan out of there as fast as possible — no one more so than Eddie. He is quite protective of her, and that doesn’t go unnoticed by anyone. Except maybe Sam.

Eddie: We’ll kill your ex and hide the body, okay?
Sam: Okay.

Sam trying to attack Dylan is just adorable. She’s too small and uncoordinated to be taken seriously in any way.

Honestly, Dylan doesn’t come across as a bad guy. I can see why Sam once loved him. I can also see the chemistry still there between them.

Eddie clearly isn’t happy about that. This might just be the wake-up call he needs to start recognizing that he has romantic feelings for Sam.

Their partnership has grown exponentially in these first four episodes. In the series premiere, I had trouble seeing how these two could possibly have a romantic relationship. Now, all that has changed.

Eddie genuinely doesn’t want Sam and Dylan’s old sex tape to come out. He isn’t just trying to work a case or get paid. He wants to save Sam from the huge amount of pain and embarrassment it would cause.

If only Eddie tracking down the tape and forcing Dylan to buy it back was enough to end all this mess…

Sam: What’s the current bid from the tabloid junkie?
Zeke: $25,000.
Sam: Are you kidding? That’s it?

Dylan has gotten himself into way bigger trouble than a sex tape, meaning Sam is in way bigger trouble too.

Sam may have set the man’s bed on fire post-cheating, but she still believes he isn’t a big enough scumbag to smuggle drugs into the country through his charity work.

It’s so difficult for Eddie to watch Sam and Dylan get along again. All he can do is try to solve the case and hope that Dylan doesn’t hurt Sam in the mean time.

Eddie can’t even escape his conflict by hooking up with Chris. She has joined the ever-growing list of people who have realized Eddie has feelings for Sam, and she breaks things off with him.

While we don’t know as much about how Sam’s feelings are developing, Eddie is certainly falling fast, even if he is trying not to.

In the end, Dylan turns out not to be a drug smuggler, and Sam doesn’t have to deal with being duped again by his charm.

I’m so glad that she walks away when Dylan asks if they have a chance of rekindling their old romance. Sam does not need that man in her life! He can’t be trusted not to hurt again.

I’m sure Eddie is relieved too.

Other Thoughts:

• Berto’s technology is getting a little out of control. He definitely isn’t allowed to be accessing all those databases either.
• Sam worrying about her fifth grade teacher seeing her sex tape is hilarious!
• Do you think Eddie actually paid that parking ticket?
• The show moves to 8/7c next week. Also, Seamus Dever is guest starring!
