The Walking Dead Review: Do Not Send Us Astray (Season 8 Episode 13)
The Walking Dead Season 8 Episode 13 “Do Not Send Us Astray” is more of the same in a battle against the Saviors, but it’s a little more exciting than previous fights.
We finally see Negan’s plan of infecting his adversaries with the zombie virus, although Negan himself is MIA. It’s a spectacular plan, really, because it works like a charm.
But once again I ask since when did The Walking Dead decide that zombie guts will infect people? I like it but it just isn’t in line with how we have seen characters deal with zombie’s guts in the past.

It is a good way to get rid of lots of randoms from the Hilltop. But how come no one is watching over the injured? Sure, they weren’t bitten, but everyone knows that if you die, you’ll come back.
One of the randoms who tells Maggie she’s doing a great job as the leader of Hilltop doesn’t look so hot. I wouldn’t have left him unattended.
Maggie is a competent leader and she concocts a smart plan of attack against the Saviors. Her people work together and make use of the element of surprise and execute a well-planned attack. They even trick the Saviors into thinking they’ve run away.

Which is why it is absolutely ridiculous how the Saviors survive an attack with everyone shooting at them from the windows. They are sitting ducks, but most get away.
I am so over the shooting scenes on The Walking Dead.
Besides a whole bunch of people we’ve never seen before, Tobin and Tara are infected by the Saviors’ zombie tinged weapons. Carol and Tobin had a nice reunion, so it’s a little sad to say goodbye to him.

Tara isn’t a goner yet, but she is shot by an arrow. She doesn’t seem sick, so maybe she won’t die. Also, Rick is injured, but I don’t think he’s infected. Maybe we’re supposed to fret about his condition, but eh, I’m not.
While walkers are causing trouble in the Hilltop house, Henry, the little boy who killed Gavin, is taking part in some of the worst writing The Walking Dead has to offer.
So not only does Henry get his hands on a machine gun, he also gets a key to the lock where all the Savior prisoners (and Gabriel) are kept. He actually opens the gate and about thirty guys are standing there and don’t pounce on this kid.

The Henry storyline is awful and I have no connection to him whatsoever. I may as well be watching a commercial.
The Morgan storyline on “Do Not Send Us Astray” is also useless. Morgan keeps seeing Gavin’s ghost as he tells him “You know what it is.”
Um, okay.
Morgan has had issues before, so it’s not completely out of left field that he’s going a little nuts again. Besides, Morgan has to make his way to Fear the Walking Dead somehow, so maybe Morgan will just abandon ship.
As terrible as some of the scenes are on “Do Not Send Us Astray,” I actually did enjoy seeing Negan’s zombie gut plan come to fruition. It’s always thrilling to see walkers be the actual threat on The Walking Dead and there are some cool walker kills.
The rest of it though is utterly ridiculous and the Saviors storyline must come to an end this season. Not even walkers can revive this plot which refuses to die.
