9-1-1 Review: Full Moon (Creepy AF) (Season 1 Episode 7)
Everyone knows the myths and stories about how the full moon affects people. It’s the time when all the creeps and crazies come out to play. On 9-1-1 Season 1 Episode 7, “Full Moon (Creepy AF),” the moon seems to have a different effect on one of our beloved heroes.
Good ole Abby Clark finds her voice on “Full Moon (Creepy AF).” Her finally stepping up in a big way for one of her calls is the Abby that’s been just under the surface this whole time.
Since the beginning, we, and Buck, have seen the hero inside of Abby. Even when she fails to see it in herself. This whole episode I find myself screaming and rooting for Abby stepping up to the plate.
Abby is just as badass as Athena or Hen. Now she knows it too. All because she found a voice to fight for.

While 9-1-1 Season 1 Episode 6, “Heartbreaker,” is all about Abby showing her heroism in a more physically present way, “Full Moon (Creepy AF)” is showcasing how much Abby can change a life without even stepping into the spotlight.
She knows the sights and sounds of all her calls. She listens in a big way.
Abby: I listen. I hear what they say and what they don’t.
Being able to know a difference in the tone of voice or even just their way of speaking is what makes Abby really great at her job. She was able to listen to two different calls from the same person for two separate incidents and know that the perps weren’t the same.
All I heard is a change in how scared the girl sounded. Go, Abby!
This display of heroism from Abby is what the show lacked on 9-1-1 Season 1 Episode 6, “Heartbreaker.” She can save the day just by answering the call.
Not all heroes swoop in and save the day. Some are softer and more subtle; choosing to stick to the background. Abby is that hero.
Nora Jane: I was ready for him this time. Thanks to you.
This episode proves that Abby has the capabilities to be great and more than just a voice on the phone line. I hope the police and fire department continue to utilize her full abilities.
If they do, you can bet I’ll be over in my personal little corner with pom poms as Abby’s personal cheer squad.
Let’s just cross all our fingers and toes that the full moon isn’t the cause of Abby’s confidence in herself. She deserves the chance to tell a story much like Buck, Bobby, and Athena get to every week.
Gaining more confidence in her work life will only positively benefit her home life. Abby will be more willing to live a little and have some fun. She will also feel less burdened by her mother.

There is also strength in numbers. By recruiting Athena to help with the case, Abby brings herself into the police narrative.
Maybe now she will be used in police cases as a backup set of ears. She’s been trained differently than Athena has and that can only benefit them in a cooperative situation. As the saying goes, two heads are better than one.
Her passion and drive to do what’s right and best, long-term, for the calls she takes will only continue to expand its reach. She has a way with words that will draw others in to see her side of things.
After all, her words backed up with action gets an apology from the detective who doubted her. Powerful.

Every time I think 9-1-1 is going down a path I don’t like or agree with, they surprise me. It’s as if the show is trying to tell us to expect the unexpected and predict nothing.
For a while there they made it seem like Abby was gunning for a possible career change. This was a storyline I was not looking forward to seeing. So it’s a relief to see that she is merely stepping up her game and going above and beyond.
If the show can continue to show Abby working her talents, they will continue to grow both in their storytelling as well as their viewership.
Other thoughts:
- The continued bond of Bobby and Buck as colleagues is so much fun to experience. It’s as if Buck and Bobby are father and son, which breaks up the negative from time to time.
- HEN WHAT THE HECK ARE YOU THINKING????????
- Athena and Hen are my dream team, girl power, soulmates.
- Hen being the voiceover really sets the tone for the whole episode. Her final line about consequences is really going to come into play for her in the coming weeks.
- While the guy eating someone’s face is werewolf-ish, I spend the hour waiting for a werewolf to pop up. Hello, full moon and werewolf lore go hand in hand.
