Nothing is more satisfying for fans than to see Lucifer’s back story come to the forefront. We all know his story of how he was an archangel fallen from grace. What we don’t really know much about is his relationship with his brothers.

When it is revealed that the trickster is actually Lucifer’s little brother, Gabriel, fans got excited. It is the first time we really see him interact with a brother and we are sure that the showdown is going to be interestingly epic.

LuciferVSGabriel

Gabriel and Lucifer definitely don’t disappoint. It is one of the most relatable moments in all of Lucifer’s time on the show. Most fans can see a part of themselves in this showdown. Whether they are the older brother, Lucifer, or the younger brother, Gabriel, most can see themselves in the situation of jealousy and hurt feelings.

Also, who hasn’t had a fists flying kind of fight with our siblings? The realization that Lucifer is willing to kill his own brother to gain his father’s love is one that fans have a hard time stomaching. It’s his true evil coming out in a moment where we feel like we can connect with him that conflicts our feelings.

Ultimately we end up respecting Lucifer for what he is, the devil. He never shies away from being his true self because he has nothing to hide.

8. Lucifer and God

LuciferandGod

The long-awaited family reunion of Lucifer and God cements itself in the minds of fans because of its raw authentic tone. By the end of Season 11, Lucifer is still possessing Castiel and he finally comes face to face with his father, God. The two majorly iconic characters have it out. Lucifer lays out his feelings of abandonment while God counters him by explaining that he loved him the most which caused him the greatest disappointment.

The two characters talking it out may seem anti-climactic, but it is actually the opposite. It’s cathartic and exciting to see God finally discuss the family issues with his son. The whole series these two have been on opposite sides of the war for free will. However, by the end of their heart to heart, we see them working together.

It’s one of the few times we see a change in Lucifer’s constant anger and resentment towards the all-powerful. It’s a nice change of pace, and for it to happen while he has Cas’ face, considering Castiel is his brother, makes it an even bigger emotional moment.

9. “Pay attention to me. I’m bored!”

Part of Supernatural Season 7 was devoted to Lucifer making Sam think that his reality isn’t actually reality. He wheedles his way into Sam’s head and haunts him day and night. For the most part, it’s to try and get Sam to accept him as his new reality, aka torture him (see next point).

Despite that there is one particular moment that sticks out as being especially funny and light-hearted. Lucifer is constantly trying to get Sam to listen to him while Sam is researching a case at the library. Finally fed up, Lucifer acts like a petulant child and demands attention.

This is a laugh-out-loud funny moment that breaks up the monotony of the family business drama. For this moment, Lucifer isn’t the villain he is the comic relief. Something, that Mark Pellegrino is very adept at doing.

Mark is definitely the best at doing annoyingly funny Lucifer. For which we are eternally grateful.

10. “Good Morning Vietnam!”

The moment Lucifer is successful at taking over Sam’s mind is iconic, not just because of the line he uses. It shows just how persuasive and strong Lucifer really is. Sam has the strength to withstand just about anything.

He even holds out for a long time, managing to avoid Lucifer’s words in his ears. However, Lucifer works on him and works on him until he finally gives in. He prevents Sam from sleeping and eventually drives him mad.

It is fun to watch Mark play the seamless combining of humorous and persistently annoying parts of Lucifer’s personality. He really hits each nuance of the character and endears the fans to him even more.

We all love Sammy but, there is something about Satan that makes us love him too. Even when he is torturing our Sam to insanity.

11. Lucifer Poses as God.

LuciferasGod

In the span of two episodes from Supernatural Season 11 Lucifer manages to once again show his true colors through major manipulation.

To start off, he poses as John Winchester in one of Sam’s visions and tells Sam that the words being spoken are coming from God. Sam follows his vision to the letter because he believes that God is giving him the key to defeating the Darkness.

However, it’s not until Lucifer has him within his reach down in the cage that it becomes apparent just how involved Lucifer was in Sam’s vision. At this point in the game, Lucifer’s cunning manipulations are no surprise to fans.

However, just when we think we can spot his hand in the actions of the Winchester’s from a mile away he sneaks in and catches us off guard.

Lucifer is definitely a classic Slytherin. He slyly mixes things around until, without you realizing it, he has double-crossed you.

By convincing Sam he is God he manages to do just that to the younger Winchester. He gets Sam to come to him under the guise that he is their only hope for defeating the Darkness. However, he turns that around and manages to lock Sam back into the cage with him.

Deja Vu much?

All the while he is as funny and sassy as ever. In fact, Lucifer sees the whole situation as a game to keep him from getting too bored. Which, it may very well be.

Once again the fantastic portrayal of Lucifer in every moment, whether he’s revealing his plan in a serious tone or he’s asking Sam which “bunk” they’ll respectively sleep in, is what makes him great. Anyone else playing him in these scenes may have foiled the fun with body movements that aren’t as light and airy or with a tone that doesn’t quite convey Lucifer’s intentions.
