The Good Place Review: The Burrito (Season 2 Episode 12)

Reviews, The Good Place

Team Cockroach makes the fight of their lives as they try to convince the almighty judge that they belong in the good place on The Good Place Season 2 Episode 12, “The Burrito.”

The Good Place’s penultimate episode, “The Burrito,” leaves viewers with one of the biggest cliffhanger and no real standing ground on where the finale could go.

One of my absolute favorite moments is Tahani sitting down with her parents and realizing that she doesn’t need to value their opinion because she likes herself. Yes, I know the test was to see if she could ignore the temptations, but she did only stay for a short minute and then left.

Tahani may have more to go on her journey to become a better person, but you can’t deny that she has grown tremendously and the way she handles her parents is a perfect example.

Let’s face it – Tahani deserves to be in the good place for how far she’s come. Her self-absorption is still there, but nowhere near where it was when she first went to the bad place.

I, also, love that Eleanor is the only one who passed the exam, but for the sake of her friends she lies and says that she failed as well. The old Eleanor would have never sat back at a chance to get something that she really wants. Team Cockroach isn’t just a group of friends; it’s a family.

With that being said – sometimes you have to cut out family members. Look, Jason will never make it into the good place solely based on his knowledge and how far he’s come because he hasn’t put in as much work.

Good Janet impersonating Bad Janet and kicking Shawn’s butt in order to save Michael and the gang is, by far, one of my top five favorite scenes throughout the entire series. Janet’s character development, besides Eleanor, is one of my favorites to see.

Janet going from this lifeless machine who knows nothing about humans or feelings to an incredible asset who can understand emotions, lie on command, and take care of her own is the best storyline, I think, The Good Place has shown.

Personally, even though Janet isn’t a human, I’d rather see Chidi, Eleanor, Tahani, and Janet go to the good place and spend the rest of their lives together in a blissful, serene environment instead of having Jason join them.

I would love to see Michael get to go to the good place with the rest of them, but with Shawn on his tail and him being a demon I know that won’t happen.

Michael is willingly standing up to Shawn, telling him off, and defending Team Cockroach all while his actual life is on the line. If that doesn’t show character progression, I’m not sure what else does.

One thing’s for sure, the season finale of The Good Place is going to wreck me. We could see our favorite group change the judge’s mind and join the good place, or they could fail again and be sent to the bad place. Either way, after next week’s finale everything is going to change, again.

Favorite Quotes:

“In the words of one of my actual friends – ya basic.” – Michael

“A lot of those situations I just took directly from Stephen King novels and episodes of Pretty Little Liars.” – Michael

“Every time they pull my eyeballs out through my mouth I’ll think of you.” – Eleanor
