The Good Place Review: Leap to Faith (Season 2 Episode 9)

Reviews, The Good Place

Eleanor and the rest of Team Cockroach use their abilities to make a last-minute getaway plan on The Good Place Season 2 Episode 9, “Leap to Faith.”

Most of Season 2 has been spent alongside Michael, working to fix him and the rest of Team Cockroach, hoping that eventually he could turn his ways and realize that he doesn’t have to be a monster with no redemption.

Well, a monster with no redemption is what he made himself look like throughout the episode to hide his real agenda – help Team Cockroach escape and save himself as well.

Michael has come a long way with the team, and this elaborative stunt proves that Michael does care about them and wouldn’t just throw them under the bus, no matter how it may look. Him crying when the team is revealed to be safe is the sweetest thing and shows how far his character has come since the beginning of Season 2.

Michael even takes it a step further and frames Vicky for everything that happened to Shawn, ending up with her inside of a cocoon so she could no longer spread her lies.

Shawn is a heartless demon monster who will work until he figures out a way to take Team Cockroach and anyone helping them down. Hence taking Janet as a hostage since they know she’s been used before to help escape.

New discoveries when it comes to Janet continue to happen, such as her getting drunk off of magnets. Creative and genius.

At this point, I think that Janet is one of the best characters in The Good Place. D’Arcy Carden continues to kill the game with Janet.

If there were a spinoff from The Good Place, I’d want it to be all about Janet and her everyday life. Not the original Janet, though. For a spinoff, I think it’d be hilarious to have the flawed Janet from the current season as we watch her figure out how to deal with being fake, but having the emotions of a human.

I can’t wait to see what The Good Place has in store for us in the final episodes of Season 2.

Other thoughts:

  • I don’t think it’ll take long before Shawn figures out Michael’s plan.
  • Vicky will squeal like a pig if it gives herself a second chance.
  • If the team isn’t going to the medium place and the bad place has to be completely wiped how are they going to survive this without going to a different bad place?
