Lethal Weapon: Top Quotes from ‘Funny Money’ (Season 2 Episode 11)
On Lethal Weapon Season 2 Episode 11, “Funny Money,” Murtaugh and Trish learn something surprising about RJ, and Riggs has his own family drama to deal with.
Here’s are some of the top quotes from “Funny Money.”
The Murtaugh Parenting Seminars
Trish: “We’re his parents, Roger, and we just got a big fat F in raising a college student.”
Oh goodness, where to start with this one? Murtaugh and Trish working as a team to try to figure out where they went wrong with RJ and how to fix it is beyond entertaining.
I can’t get over the fact that there was a contract involved in taking care of a goldfish (and that Murtaugh broke it!), and FedExing laundry? This is the new dream.
RJ dropping out of college turns out to be a lighthearted and entertaining storyline that features some amazing Murtaugh family moments. The only thing that would have made it better is if Riana could have been there to witness everything.
We don’t cherish the scenes with all the Murtaugh children enough. It seems like we only get one child at a time. How do you think Trish and Murtaugh handled RJ’s college news?

Similarities
Riggs: “I bet I spent more times in group homes than you ever will. You’re not the only kid to grow up without a family. I didn’t have a family then, and I don’t have a family now. But you know what I do have? I have a job I love. I have a little place down by the beach.”
Riggs sees a bit of himself in Ty, and throughout the case, Riggs takes on a bit of a fatherly role with the kid. Okay, maybe fatherly is too strong of a word…he tries to help Ty as best he can.
Cahill brings up her concern that Riggs’ father’s voice will get stuck in Riggs’ ear, and instead of seeing him succumb to that voice, we see him attempt to be there for Ben and Ty.
He does his best to be a better man than his father — I’ve been binging Fringe — and Riggs succeeds. He’s able to mentor someone who is in a spot he was once in. He gets to give back and make a difference in Ty’s life.

Captain Knows Best
Bowman: “Captain, question for you. You know Detective Riggs better than I do.”
Avery: “God, I hate questions that start like that.”
While Bailey’s absence is noticed, it’s great that we get to see a little bit more of Avery.
He’s always entertaining, especially when he’s having to handle or witness Murtaugh and Riggs’ antics. Avery hasn’t really been around since the beginning of the season, which is a shame.
We don’t normally see Avery interacting with the rest of the team, so while his scene with Bowman is brief, it’s still nice to see.
I’m still waiting for the day when Bowman is partnered up with Riggs and/or Murtaugh. Hilarity will ensue.
The End?
Molly: “What is it you shouldn’t have done?”
Riggs: “Pulled you into my mess.”
Molly: “You think you had a choice? Your mess is where I want to be. What is this? Why does it feel like I’m not going to see you when you come back?”
Riggs: “I can’t protect you anymore, Molly.”
Ouch. This one hurts.
Even though Riggs and Molly were pretty serious, it still feels like we barely got to know them as a couple. It’s sad that this might be the end for the two of them, but hopefully Molly will do her best to get Riggs to see that he doesn’t have to protect her.

However, Riggs has already failed to protect one woman he loves, and so I’m not sure he’ll be willing to spend time with Molly until his father is taken care of.
Do you think Riggs is making the right decision by breaking things off with Molly? His father already knows how to hit Riggs where it hurts, and it’s doubtful that he will lay off of Molly and Ben just because Riggs is no longer seeing her.
